Q: Is an online University Degree as good as a campus Degree? if not why?
I attend a private campus university and was considering moving online completely but, I want to know if after Graduation will I have a harder time finding employment because my degree was online?
A: I think this depends on what online program you use. If it's online courses through the college you attend it shouldn't make a difference. If it's a strictly online college I think the degree is a lot less respected. It wouldn't hurt to call a few potential employment companies and ask thier feelings on the degree. Tell them you are a student and were wondering what thier attitude is on the subject.
Q: Can I apply for immigration to canada in skill worker program with online university degree?
Right now my friend want to choose an online university which will be acceptable for immigration, please can anybody tell me which one from University of Phoenix, Liverpool and Atlantic International University
A: i really dont think so but i know u can use a visa as visitor for 6months
Q: What is the difference between an online degree and one from a brick and mortar university?
If two people applied for the same job and held the same degree but one was from a online university and one was from a true "brick and mortar" university, would it make a difference to potential employers?
A: Is the school accredited? will it's courses be accepted at other universities? If not, don't waste money and time on a worthless degree.
Say you get such a degree, then decide to go on and get additional schooling, only to find out nothing you took will be accepted at a university.
Many real, brick and mortar universities offer a few online degree programs. Those are the real thing and would be the better option, assuming the brick university is accredited.
As for employers, say they want a nurse and your degree is entirely on line... where is the clinical experience and if the school is not accredited by the state, the training won't get you the job.
There are a number of fake universities offering these type programs. Check and double check their credentials.
Q: Is an Online degree from Kaplan online university accredited and recongized by employers as a real degree?
Looking to go back to school for medical billing and coding but need to work also, how legit are the online schools and are the degree's given accepted by employee's or do they take the online degree as a joke?
Please help....
A: Regardless of delivery method (on ground, online, hybrid), a higher ed institution in the US can have 3 institutional accreditation statuses.
1. Regionally accredited - the highest and most useful.
2. Nationally accredited - real, but not as recognized or useful. Yes it is less than regional accreditation, which isn't intuitive.
3. Unaccredited
Kaplan is regionally accredited, so you will be fine there. We are one of the largest employers in the state and accept all regionally accredited degrees.
Acceptance is very high at the associates level of courses online since it is very vocational. I wouldn't recommend an online doctorate on the other end though.
If in doubt, look at the job ads for the position you are seeking.
Q: Is an online degree from an established, accredited four year university a good idea?
I m considering enrolling to Washington State University's online bachelors degree in business administration program. I currently run my own small business plus hold down a part time job so I do not have the time to attend the university in person. Would an online degree from this state university be the same as a if i had attended in person?
A: Definitely. I live north of Spokane, and am working on my MBA from Indiana University, and a dual Master's in Global Management from Thunderbird.
I hate WSU (I went to UW undergrad), but as long as they are AACSB accedited, it is worthwhile. However, you should check the rankings and try and get into the best school you can. IU is top tier (top 20 across the board, top 5 / top 10 in many disciplines), and Thunderbird is #1 in global business 10 years' running.
The key is AACSB certification. It ensures the school has the highest standards for academics, and that the online degree is just as good as the in-residence degree is.
WSU has that certification, so it is at least top 10% of business schools in the world. There are better, so find a fit for what you want to study, your budget, and your application.
I looked at every school on that list, compared it to all the rankings, and then went down the list until one had an online program. Duke was the best Executive Ed, but it was $120,000+ and required me to be on campus several weeks a year. Neither fit me. IU requires one week a year; The IU/TBird dual is about three and a half weeks. One at IU, one in Beijing, China, and one and a half in Arizona.
Online degrees are no different than the in-residence degrees at AACSB schools. In fact, they have some advantages because you keep your job, you learn to manage your time alot more, and you work with teammates and classmates in a setting more like the business world - email, conference calls, and online collaborative meetings.
So, other than the WSU thing I was kidding about (mostly), I say go for it!
Q: Anyone done an online degree at University of Phoenix?
The Univerisity of Phoenix offers online degrees.
Approximately how much (total) does a typical Bachelors degree cost?
Also, does one have to go to a test center and write the exams every semester? Or are exams taken online at your home computer?
I have emailed them, but I wanted these answers fast from someone who has done a degree at University of Phoenix online.
Thanks in advance!
A: My sister just signed up for the masters program at phoenix for 14, 000. She was interested in getting a degree in education. The classes last for 3 weeks which is equals a semester. All the work is done on line. She currently lives in atlanta, however the degree is not accepted in new york state and five other states. She decided that if she can not take the degree where ever she wanted to go that it was not worth the 14, 000. Do your research and make sure that the degree with be accept anywhere you go. You dont want to be limited to certain states especially when you are paying that much money. Good Luck
Q: can a person have two bachelor degree in the same time, one from a local university and online degree?
say i am studying psychology in a local university, so while i am at this university i also transfer my classes to an online degree to gain a bachelor degree in Business information system. can i be in both universities ?
A: One way this can be very advantageous is if the classroom/traditional school you are attending is not as well known as the online program you are attending.
If you time your degree right this is not a difficult process but remember, one will award before the other and many schools have second degree rules that require additional hours. You could end up delaying your graduation at the preferred school.
Q: Is a online university degree really hard, i am thinking of getting a degree, No prior college. Any Advice?
I want to know if anyone is familiar or has taken online university? please let me know what its like and if its managable. Thanks in advance.
A: It is definitely manageable, but you may want to be careful too. It is certainly convenient, but it also requires quite a bit of self-discipline. If it is a reputable online course - through an accredited college or university - then the coursework is not likely to be easy. You might want to start out with one class at first, especially since you say you haven't had any prior college experience. It might also be good for you to take an in-person class now and again so that you can get the overall college experience through class discussions, etc. that are difficult to convey through an online environment. Hope that helps!
Q: Is a master's degree from University of Phoenix (online university, USA) accepted?
Are online university degrees accepted in Bahrain?
Does anyone know about the University of Phoenix specifically?
A: Call the professional organizations/governing body for your profession. Talk to recruiters/employers before you register. Do they require you to attend a certain type of school? Does you school need to be accredited? By any specific bodies? Use this information when you are looking at any school, not just UOP.
Within two months of graduating I had two new job offers (one from a private college and one from the university hospital). I was even on a phone interview in less than an hour of commencement, I was still in my regalia even.
Q: Can a foreigner apply for online degree at University of Phoenix?
I'm a resident of the Philippines and I am interested in taking online associate courses from the University of Phoenix. Would they accept a non-US resident/citizen to take their online courses? What do I need to apply? How much would it cost (do you think I'd have the same rate as those residing in the States)? Thank you for any help.
A: Have you looked at their website? Geez, it is not a difficult concept, it's called research; try it.
Q: Do you consider an online degree from University of Phoenix equivalent to a ‘in person’ 4 year degree?
Please help me settle a dispute between two co-workers. One has a BS in psychology from the University of Phoenix online and the other attended Southern Connecticut State University and has a BS in psychology as well
The University of Phoenix fellow bragged & bragged when he got his degree online.
The gentleman that actually went to the classes at Southern CT State argues his degree is more meaningful since he sat through live classes and experienced the full college scope by hearing ideas of others in a classroom environment, did an internship to obtain his degree, live group projects, etc.
I don’t know what to think. Do you think an online degree from the University of Phoenix is really equivalent to that of one from a college where you actually attend the classes in person?
Do you think a job recruiter would take the ‘in person’ degree more serious that a degree obtained on line?
A: I too may be biased, but I got my degree online. AIU
I too sat through class, via live chats with my instructor and fellow classmates. I had to do the same research, along with Discussion Board postings, which in turn is like responding to someone in the classroom. Maybe even harder, since you're REQUIRED to respond to your fellow classmates, along with posting your own discussion. You're NOT allowed to just sit there and listen.
As far as group projects....TRY doing one with 6 other members and getting them to be involved with out the phyical contact.. MORE than once I've been left stranded with those trying to come in at the last minute to get credit where no credit was due.
Personally, If I could of attended a class in person, probably would of made my life easier, but being disciplined enough to do your work, when you'd rather be doing something else...really hard!
AIU has several campuses, which one can attend and sit through the class, or do what I did and accomplish each one at an accelerated level of only 5 weeks per class.
I also know of other colleges which offer their classes online now...
AIU campuses:
Buckhead in Atlanta
Dunwood in Atlanta
Houston
London
Los Angeles
South Florida
AU Dubai
and ONLINE
ONLINE classes are beneficial, especially to those of us who are serving our country. It enables us to still serve, and further our education at the same time.
Q: Is a degree from an online university thought to be worth less than a degree from a real university?
Is a degree from an online university thought to be worth less than a degree from a real university?
Like would an employer rather hire someone with a degree from a real university over someone with a degree from an online university?
A: Definitely bricks and mortar. You can do some classes on-line from an accredited school that also has physical classes. There are some courses that simply cannot be taught on-line. Right now there are MANY non-accredited schools offering worthless degrees on-line. In the end you have no degree, and no job. (college professor)
Q: Has anybody gotten an online degree from the University of Phoenix?
I want to get my master's degree in education and online classes would be a lot easier for me than going to traditional classes. I keep getting emails from the University of Phoenix, and it looks pretty good but I don't know anybody who has actually received a degree from there. I could use any feedback you can provide!
A: Many places see University of Phx as a Degree mill. Especially if your going into teaching. Colleges are often more picky about where you go to school. If you have other options available you might want to consider them.
THE BIG TEST IS see how the degree is viewed by future potential employers.
My brother has worked at UoP for 2 years now. The class structue is unique. all of your classes are kinda melted into one program of study. He seems to like it.
Problem is that most of the credits are difficult to transfer if you do switch schools later
It is prety dang expensive compared to state universities.
Q: If I would like to pursue a degree through online universities, e.g: university of phoenix, is it good option?
Also, would it better to attend online university or a regular university? I know that I will miss out all the fun in a regular university, but it is more convenient in an online university. Please advise.
A: I have done both, starting with a traditional university and currently online. So far as the particular school you choose, it depends on your major and your own research. Strictly the traditional vs. online part boils down to this though: online college really is more difficult. The pace is extremely fast, the workload is heavier, almost every class will be reading and writing intensive. Working full time and going to school online full time (6 hrs for online=12 for traditional) is rough, but for me it is preferable to having to waste time attending class.
Q: Does a free online college or university degree granting program exist anywhere at present?
Michael Sailor of Microstrategy tried to start a free online internet university degree program back in 2000 but was unable to fund the idea due to his company's stock tanking. Has anyone accomplished his (admittedly noble) idea yet?
A: Not very likely. Remember the old saying "you get what you pay for."
A university or college degree that is offered for free sounds too fishy. I am a university lecturer and I can't think of a reason why any lecturer would work for free, or any employer that would accept a degree from a free school. I can't imagine that it would be accredited if one existed.
It makes me think of the licenses to be an "ordained minister" from the back of magazines where you spend $10 and you can call yourself Reverend so-and-so of the Church of the Holy Toilet Bowl or some-such nonsense.
There are inexpensive alternatives. Try your community college or talk to the finance department about possible grants or scholarships. There is a lot of money out there for people who are serious about getting their degree.
Good luck!
