Q: Does anyone know of any schools that you can get an online teaching degree?
I am looking to be a teacher and can not find a school that offers an online teaching degree. the reason that i need an online school is becaus i am working full time to try to get my car fixed as well as get a place of my own due to the fact that i got kicked out of my mothers house because of the drinking that she does all of the time. if any one has anything that could help me please let me know thank you

A: It would scare the hell out of me to have my daughter taught by some one whos degree came from their computer. If you have to wait to go to school, please do. Besides, you'll have to do your student teaching and that can't be done from home.

Q: Can you earn a teaching degree online in NC?
I am currently looking to get a bachelor's degree in education. I've seen tons of programs advertised, like strayer, university of Pheonix, etc., but do any of them offer a degree in education? Does anyone know if NC accepts education degrees obtained online? Any info would help, thanks.

A: Your bachelors degree can be earned anywhere - just make sure the college is accredited. Your teacher credential is another matter - because all states require a student teaching portion - there are currently no online programs to handle it entirely online. (credential is a post bac 2 year degree) There may be a few programs that do *some* online work - but not all.

Q: What is the best masters degree for teaching online?
My college adviser tells me that with a master's degree in adult education I will be qualified to begin teaching online community college courses in anything I took as an undergraduate. I'm wondering if it's better to specialize in a specific field to teach in. Any suggestions?

Q: Does anyone know how I can get a teaching degree online?
I only have a high school diploma and no college credits does anyone know a good online school to get a teachers degree thanks

A: Before even looking into an online degree check with your state Department of Education and their requirements to get a license. Most have very strict standards and require a full Bachelor's Degree in a subject area to get a license to teach, as well as student teaching experience. Some states are more strict than others. If your state does not accept an online degree or recognize a certain college then all of your work would be for nothing. If your state does accept online degrees, then they will often post a list of acceptable programs that they recommend. You will need to do practical experience though (student teaching) that is impossible to do through the web. Good Luck!

Q: Will anyone hire me if I get an online teaching degree?
Well, I've already got my traditional 4 year degree by going to college. Now I want to do teaching. I heard that the traditional bachelors degrees in teaching are a total waste of time anyways. University of Phoenix is suppossed to be accredited and meets state requirments for teaching but a principal told me he would never hire anyone with that degree and my dad is a teacher and he told me i'm an idiot for thinking about getting the degree online. Has anyone gotten that degree or know anyone that has? Will I be able to get a job? I want to teach elementary ed. Are there any states that would hire me with a BA in business.

A: I'm a professor of education and a former teacher. Don't go to U. Phoenix. Find out what the best local teachers college is and go there. There's no shortcuts and even more important than getting the degree is getting real experience working with the kinds of kids you want to eventually teach. Substitute, volunteer, work in after school programs, etc.

Q: Is getting a degree online as a teacher the same thing as getting a degree at a real college? ?
I would love to become a teacher and that way when my kids are in school, I could have the same schedule as them (no matter what the pay). Question is ... I dont have time to go to a university. Can I get an online degree in teaching (k-3 grade) and it be the same thing as a university degree? Would they hire if I received a online teaching degree?

A: You most certainly can get a teaching degree, especially in early childhood education online. You will have to apply to a local college, or community college. Then through them, there are many online courses, including RODP classes that you can take entirely online. I am currently studying to become an elementary school teacher and last semester I took all of my classes online. I started out at a community college, where I received my Associates degree, and now I am at a University. However, to receive the most benefits from studying to be an elementary school teacher requires time spent in classrooms. I have learned more about how to be a good teacher from observing actual classrooms. You can study from a book all day long, but the real knowledge comes from doing, which requires you to get in the classrooms and start working with the students. It has been a great experience and I can't wait to graduate next May!!!

Q: How to get teaching degree online?
I have almost 100 university credit hours as an English major. It's been over 10 years since I've been in school but now I want to not only finish, but also become an English teacher. I know that online degrees are popular these days so how can I make it work for me? Do I have to finish my degree in English first, then get a teaching certification or am I able to do them both together? Also, what are some of the more reputable schools online to look into? Thanks in advance for any answers.

A: The key is to make sure the college/university is accredited. I have three basic recommendations for everyone looking into online/distance education. They all have to do with exploring; after all, you have to defend your assets. 1. Make certain that you have triple checked their accreditation. First, they tell you what it is, then you go to that accrediting body’s website (not through the link provided by the school), and thirdly you would visit the department of education to see what they have to say. Do your diligent research into the institutions once you have narrowed down to a couple. You can look at the Better Business Bureau for more information on the college. 2. You must have extreme self motivation and be able to teach yourself per say. This means that you will not have someone telling you verbally, so it is up to you to get the information from the course room, text, and other resources. The best way to look at it is like a guided independent study course. 3. Review your goals, personal and professional. Make sure that the school that you are going to offers the programs that match your goals. Do not settle. There are many programs that are similar, but you have to make the ultimate decision. Do not let it be based on finances and length of program, but the fact that when you are finished or near finished you will be able to assume your proper place in the career field sought. You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

Q: Can you get a teaching degree from an online school?
I am looking into Phoenix school and taking online courses. Is this a good way to go about becoming a teacher?

A: I wouldn't!!! I'm currently attending Hope International University and it is regionally accredited by WASC which is the same as like UC's USC Cal State's... etc. U of P is a for profit school and is not regionally accredited. Hope International has a BS in Human Development with an emphasis in education. Also I think it is Cincinnati University that has a BA in Education, I would check that out before U of P.

Q: Elementary Teaching Degree Online?
Does anyone know if it is possible to get an elementary teaching degree online? I have a BA in Secondary Education (English major), but have not had any luck landing a position. Besides that, my heart is truly with the younger children. When I started college, I was an Elementary major, but switched half way through. I would like to finish it, so I can hopefully get a job. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A: I'd make an appointment with your former university's career services to see what your options are. Considering you've already done a degree, you might be able to do a shortened course for primary teaching if it's on offer. I wouldn't imagine that you could do a teaching degree online since much of the work involves placements in schools and that might not be possible to arrange (especially these days, when schools like to know that the people they have coming in to work with kids are known to be trustworthy and safe).

Q: Has anyone ever attended Liberty University online Master of Arts Teaching degree Program?
With an emphasis in Elementary Education. I am looking to start this Fall 2008. And I would like for anyone who has attended to share his/her experience in the online program. And if you are a person looking to start this Fall 2008, let me know.

A: May be this site can help you http://www.a1onlinecourses.com

Q: Teaching degree online?
I am looking into changing my major to elementary education; however, I am stationed overseas. Can anyone recommend an online college for this degree program?

A: This site has some good information on regionally accredited online degrees in elementary education and some colleges for you to contact: http://www.ecollegefinder.org/online-elementary-education-degrees.aspx Good Luck!

Q: Are there any online degree programs accepted in Wisconsin as legitimate sources for getting a teaching degree
I want to become a highschool English teacher in Wisconsin, but am discovering that Wisconsin is a rather difficult state to become a teacher in. I can't easily afford to accomodate a 20+ hour block of time to be down on a college campus pursuing a degree in the middle of the work week. I do already have a bachelors degree in Journalism and a minor in English from UW-Milwaukee so it is just the "teaching" aspect that I would need credits in. If anyone else has recently become a teacher in Wisconsin or knows any way to expedite the process, please let me know

A: I'm from WI and went through the same situation as you a while back. I know of no online source for obtaining a Teaching Certification in WI. Colleges like to see their students as part of the evaluation process. Cardinal Stritch will work with you as a part time student but ultimately, you have to commit. This can be upsetting but don't be discouraged. The jobs are out there as people retire and teaching does provide a good and rewarding life.

Q: does any online school offer a way to get your teaching degree?
right now I am attending the university of phenoix online. I have enough credits for my assiociates and I am on my way to my bachlor of science for healthcare administration, but i have decided to go for my teaching degree is there anywhere i can do that online. I am in NC

A: What kind of teaching do you want to do? If you teach in a private school you don't necessarily need to have a degree in education. I thought the University of Phoenix offered teaching degrees, but I would not recommend a degree from an online school. It just isn't practical for that career path, and will likely be frowned upon by potential employers. I suggest going to a traditional school that offers online classes. There must be a counselor at the U. of P. that can offer you some advice. Good luck

Q: did anyone get their teaching degree from drexel online? is it a good program?
did you have trouble finding a job afterward? Is it the same as going on campus to get a degree? How were the classes. How long did it really take to get a degree? thanks for any info you may have!!

A: It would be a good idea to call you local Board of Education and see if they will accept your certificate. I have questions about how you are going to get required field experience with an online course. I worked two parttime jobs during the school year and one fulltime and two parttime jobs during the summer to get through. It's hard, but it can be done.
