Q: Is an online paralegal degree acceptable?
I already work in a legal office as an assistant...same work less pay. There are no schools in my area that offer paralegal degree. Would a future attorney accept an online degree? Is it worth it or should I just save my money.....

A: Just be sure the online university or college is accredited, then your degree is as good as a local college or university.

Q: I want to get my paralegal degree online.?
can anyone recommend any good programs i can go through to get my paralegal degree online. And about how long will it take me to get it. Ive been working as a legal secretary for 2 years now, and i love it, i want to get my degree fast and hopefully cheap!

A: Well there are quite a few different schools in which you can get your paralegal degree online. Kaplan University in Florida being one of them. Be extremely careful though not to load up on classes. Online and actually sit-in classes are two separate things and it can be quite overwhelming completing a full time semester online. Good luck and enjoy!

Q: Can anyone suggest a good online degree program?
I want to get my paralegal degree online. Can anyone suggest a good school? There are so many out there and I want to use a reputable and accredited school.

A: This site has some information on regionally accredited online colleges offering paralegal degrees: http://www.ecollegefinder.org/online-paralegal-degree-education.aspx I would definitely make sure that any college you are considering is regionally accredited and that you contact a number of schools. Too often people choose to enroll in the first online college they find rather than contacting a number of schools to find the best fit. The beauty of getting a degree online is that your school choice is not limited by geography.

Q: could i get a job with an online paralegal degree?

A: flower girl hit the nail on the head, most small law firms do not care about your degree but if you can do the job given to you, many solo you can not afford a paralegal will hire a secretary type and teach them

Q: Kaplan online Paralegal degree?
I am in the process of enroling to Kaplan's Paralegal program, what can you tell me about the program? or about Kaplan in general? I am very excited to return back to school. I already understand that going to an on-ground campus is the best way to go, but do to circumstances online is the best route for me. I would like to know about the school itself. (I.E. instructors, programs, tuition etc.) I know how expensive the school is, what I meant was were there any hidden fees? Delays in funding, etc? Please, don't answer one word answers just fir the points. Thanks

A: Kaplan is expensive.

Q: My online Associates degree in Paralegal Studies is going to cost me at least 21000. is this a reasonable pric
Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies at Colorado Tech online. The whole college course is 16 months, and it will cost around $21000. Seems like a nice virtual campus, setup, and student support, but I don't know what the norm is with online colleges. (its not only an internet entity. There are also ground campuses.)

A: That is completely ridiculous. My friend is attending class on campus and it is only costing her 4000 dollars at the community college for 2 full years of schooling!

Q: is a paralegal online degree worth it?

A: It depends on which country. Under English Law, there is no legal requirement to study Law in order to call yourself a Solicitor. In my opinion, there is no point because, in UK, there is no such thing as this degree. There is no Uni that offers this course. However, there are several UK Unis where you can study Law, .

Q: I am thinking about getting an online degree in paralegal studies at Florida Metropolitan Univ.?
Anyone have info on this online school?

A: The great thing is that FMU is also a campus school, so no one will ever know if you studied online, on campus, or hybrid. FMU is also accredited by the Council on Higher Education. One of the first things to do when looking at online degree programs is check the accreditation by doing a triple check. First, they tell you they are accredited and by whom, then you go to that accrediting body’s website (not through the link provided by the school), and thirdly you would visit the department of education to see what they have to say. I would strongly recommend you stay within the 6 major accrediting bodies in the US (see CHEA link below). I also suggest reviewing your goals, personal and professional. Make sure that the school that you are going to offers the programs that match your goals. Do not settle. There are many programs that are similar, but you have to make the ultimate decision. Do not let be based on finances and length of program, but the fact that when you are finished or near finished you will be able to assume your proper place in the career field sought. Even though FMU shows to be a good school, there are many other traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Good luck on your search!

Q: How can I get a paralegal certificate online without obtaining a four year degree first ?

A: There are a number of institutions offering on line courses and basic degree is not required. Please visit paralegal certificate on line nationalparalegal.edu ww.blackstonelaw.com www.woli.com

Q: is there any apa accredited schools online for paralegal ?
is there any schools accredited and apa authorized for paralegal associates degree online? I checked on the apa site and did not find anything. I thought maybe the site was not updated with current schools

A: I'm not sure but please note that I'd asked my friend's mom who worked in human resources at a law firm about paralegal, and she said that they generally need a bachelor's degree in 'something' (and most likely training from aba approved program) to possibly gain employment. I'd spoken with a lawyer many years ago, and he said that he can merely hire a law student as an intern for less money and not have to provide job benefits, just fyi :) If still wanting training, please forgo those private $$ schools and look into the county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course) as long as it's accredited. Please be wary of those online, for-profit schools such as penn foster, university of phoenix, capella, kaplan and others: http://www.capellauniversitysucks.us http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

Q: What is a good school to take a paralegal course online? I am looking for at least an associates. ?
I prefer to stay away from DeVry and UOP. I would like a community college for my associates but am not sure if they will offer a complete online degree. Any help would be great.

A: This site has a couple more schools offering paralegal programs to help broaden your search a bit hopefully: http://www.ecollegefinder.org/online-paralegal-bachelors-degree.aspx Good luck!

Q: What's the difference between recieving a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies and Paralegal Studies?
Can someone with credibility and experience on the subject tell me what exactly is the purpose and difference between recieving a Bachelor's in Legal Studies Degree and a Bachelor's in Paralegal Studies? What kind of information and help can you give someone pursueing these degrees online? Thank you in advance!!!

A: No experience on the subject, other than that I believe the Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies is geared towards becoming a paralegal so I think you get to take specific classes that would help you in the career and the BLS would be general classes (you can't practice law with a BLS). However, I do think each school is different. Some unaccredited law schools have BLS that are conveyed upon the students who eventually get J.D.s.

Q: I just got my degree in paralegal studies. How do I get experience in this field?
I have been told by so many people that it is going to be hard for me to get into the field because attorneys are looking for ones who have at least two to five years of experience. I got my degree online and did not go through intership. So somebody please tell me how can I go to work in this field. I got two kids I got to take care of I live in mississippi and it is hard to find a job. I have been told by several people that my resume is good but I am still wondering why I can't get a job

A: Well, I am a paralegal and I didn't even get a degree in that field! So I promise, there are people out there who will hire you! Look for a small office, like if they're looking for a secretary, because that's how my job was advertised, and I am a paralegal. If all else fails, lie on the resume. That works, I've done that too! (shh, don't tell!) Good luck!

Q: Are online degrees as effective at getting a job as in-class degrees?
i have a degree from an accredited university from taking in-class courses, but i wanna take some online courses to get a paralegal degree.

A: Absolutely NO - I do not know of any credible employer or any accredited university that accepts on-line course work as a credential or qualification for a job or for a higher degree.

Q: Am interested in but confused by online degree programs. Is there a Consumer Reports type site that can help?
Phoenix? CTU? Kaplan? FMU? Am hoping to study Legal Assistant/Paralegal [maybe Criminal Justice] online. Would like to start with my Associates, continue to Bachelors, and finally study for my law degree. Where do I go to find impartial information about each college, its reputation, costs, accreditation, etc? Thank you. These are great answers. Thank you for your help. I will leave the question open while I check out those sites.

A: I am doing the Associate in Paralegal studies through Virginia College Online. They are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools Which is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Virginia College Online is offered through an actual on campus college, Virginia College at Birmingham in Alabama. This means They have a federal school code and through them you are eligible for student aid through FAFSA. It is costing roughly $11,000/yr including books, fees, and tuition. The program is 96 hours and they charge $325/credit hour. Whichever school you choose, research their accreditation through CHEA and the USDE (links below.) You can also check their reputation through the Better Business Bureau.
