Q: Is it possible to get an on-line B.A degree from an accredited college without a lab science or math class?
I have ~60 college credits, and lots of company courses from my 25 yr career. Trying to get an on-line degree from an accredited school that does not require completion of lab science and math courses.
A: Your degree will get the respect it deserves. So, if you get a cut rate online degree it will be (deservedly) mocked. Go to a respected school and just take the courses that are required.
Why label yourself for life as a person who takes shabby shortcuts when you could instead label yourself as a person who isnt afraid of a challenge?
Q: Could you give me addresses of colleges that give on-line degree in Pharmacy?
I am a pharmacist, have the university degree here in Serbia, but I would like to experience western pharmacy knoledge, at least on-line.
A: If you have a mid eastern degree than you know to Google or look it up.
google.com
ask.com

PS: you have to go to the University here to get the necessary hours to transfer over.........
Q: Where can I work on an ON-LINE degree for telecommunications?
The degree must be able to be obtained on-line and the college or university must offer the degree in telecommunications. Please do not answer the question with a vague "check this university." Thanks. The first person answering this question in a helpful way will get the 10 points.
I have already searched on line and couldn't find an answer. DeVry has no undergrad degree in Telecommunications
A: Devry University, has all degree programs, I believe up to a Master in Telecom, computer science and other info tech courses, and they're all online.
Q: Has anyone every gotten an on-line degree before? How credible are they, can you be taken seriously ?
I was thinking about an online degree in Nursing(practictioner). Is there any "small print" I should look for? How is financial aid processed when its on-line?
A: The validity of the degree rests almost entirely on the reputation of the college awarding the degree. In some cases, an online degree rates higher than a tradition in-the-seat degree. (example: a master's from Stanford online vs a master's from Eastern Yourstate State University traditionally).
The key is the reputation of the college awarding the degree and not whether it was completed online or traditionally. Nursing will only be partially online - there will be clinical components you have to work out for that one.
The 'small print' isn't printed: Quality/legitimate online programs are very hard. These courses require a lot of independent reading and very much writing. I've been in classes that wanted 5 page papers 3 times a week. Tossing out a 30 page academic paper as a final exam isn't uncommon. This isn't the easy way. And, you have to be very self-motivated; there is no lecture instructor reminding you to read chapter 8 or to start your paper.
Financial Aid; same as on campus. The financial aid office processes the paperwork and then applies your financial aid to your bill. At my school we get a debit card and free bank account, financial aid excess is deposited there after the drop period is over.
note: there are fewer scholarships and no assistantships for online programs. You can get fed/state grants and loans but for the most part, that's it.
Be sure to explore all of the options and then pick the best school you can get into. If you don't already understand accreditation, learn. Regional accreditation is essential. In nursing you will need additional accreditation and state approvals.
Q: would employers know the difference between an on line degree vs. a traditional college degree?
In columbia, south carolina we have a south University campus but there's also a south university online. if receiving a degree from this college would the employer know that I didn't receive it online but was actually attending this college in a classroom setting? I'm asking this because alot of employers do not take on-line degrees seriously!
A: It's very very unlikely that they will know the difference if the online degree came from a university that also has a campus. I think it should be okay.
The only problem might come from something like Phoenix University that is known widely for its online degree program, and for a degree coming from one of those degree mills that aren't actually legitimate and offer "life experience" degrees. But even then, many employers focus on criminal records in their background checks, with only light verification of education and employment history, unless those things are absolutely critical to the job.
Q: Should I get my Masters on-line, or go back where I got my Bachelors degree?
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English nearly 30 year ago. Now, I am thinking of going back and getting my Masters, either in Councilling, or Education. Would it be better to go back where I got my original degree, or take an on-line degree? Are on-line degrees taken seriously by employers?
A: Most online degrees are not recognized by employers unless they are from well known school such as duke, ucla and so forth. If you want to go back to school, consider a state university, they are well recognized by employers.
I speak from experience, I had to explain myself to each employer that interviewed me. For example, I was constantly asked "You graduated from Capella University in MN, but you live in Texas? How did you do that?" and I would explain "oh, it was online degree". And the next question was "How did you do your materials?, how did you communicate with others? did you have an internship? do you have hands on experience? Is it just like Devry?
Devry, Phoenix online dont have the same accreditation as the public universities so online degrees dont look good on the resume. ***If you are going to get an online degree make sure they are from a regular universities that offer online courses. *** For example, if you want to attend Penn state, they have online courses and they are a well known university, and it looks good on a resume. Employers look for hands on experience, thats their priority, then they consider legit education.
Q: How serious does a vet or animal clinic take you if you have an on line degree of Vet Tech?
I am looking into doing the degree via online due to children and time issues. I would love a carrer in this feild but i'm afraid that online degrees look a bit pretentious?
Also have any of you been down this path before? Was it worth it in the end or is it better to be a Vet Assistant?
Thanks!
A: There are no American Veterinary Medical Association accredited online vet tech schools.
Please be aware that the online schools are for a bullsh*t assistant degree. You do NOT need a degree, certificate, etc to be an assistant.
To be a vet tech, you can take some of the courses online, but there are labs and internships that require you to be there in person. Most schools offer night programs or will allow you to go part time.
I'm a vet tech and I used to be an assistant. I like what I do much better now. I have more responsibility, better pay, and enjoy it more.
Q: How many people who enter a On Line Degree Program, completes the whole program.?
What is the best On Line Degree Program, and where can a person find employment with an online degree? Are all Schools on line Accredited???How many graduate?
A: Joker didn't type the website correctly, it's:
http://www.alllsite.info/university.php
I used this site also, and it really is quite good.
Q: How long does it usually take to earn a bachelors degree on-line?
My husband is planning to enter an on-line program to earn his bachelors degree. Does anyone know how long it will take him to complete the program?
A: It can take anywhere from 3 to 15 years. It all depends on how many courses/semester hours you take per semester and how many semesters are offered online at that school.
If you take 12 hours (4 courses) in the fall and spring and take 6 hours (2 courses) in the summer (this is a full-time load) then you'd finish right at 4 years with 120 semester hours.
If you take half of that schedule then it'd take 8 years to finish a bachelor's degree.
Going to your local college and taking one class per semester in fall and spring (6 hours per year), you'd finish your bachelor's degree in just 20 years.
If you take one course per semester for three semesters per year (9 hours per year) then it will take 13years + one semester to finish a bachelor's degree.
Some people take more than 12 hours per semester - the max is usually around 18. If you take 18 per semester fall and spring plus 9 in the summer (45 hours per year) then the bachelor's will take about 2.67 years - we can round that to 3 years.
This all applies whether you're attending online or in the classroom. A bachelor's degree isn't measured in years, it's measured in semester hours of class credit. It just so happens that a typical full-time student can finish it in 4-5 years so we call it "a 4-year degree". That doesn't mean everyone took four years though. It's all about how many hours you complete.
Q: Any opinions for on line degree programs at University of Phoenix?
Just getting back to school majoring in Business Admin. Haven't been in school for 20 years now and trying to find an online program that fits my schedule.
A: Hi,
I am in their associates degree program for Accounting. Their AA program is not that expensive; as a matter of fact, it is about the same price as UMUC (University of Maryland University College, an online degree program and a division of University of Maryland). The BS/BA degree is double the amount of the AA program, which is why I have opted to transfer to UMUC, since I am a resident of Maryland, to complete my BS. However, if you are not a resident of Maryland, then your tuition for being out-of-state is about the same as the University of Phoenix.
I think that is why the school is so high. There are a lot of people that attend from out-of-state and do not realize, that they are paying out-of-state tuition.
I actually enjoy the classes. They transfered in 16 out of 31 credits I had from a community college I attended over 10 years ago.
So, I guess it all depends on the person. But for me, it works!!
Q: What is the cheapest university in America to study on line for master degree in English?
What is the best and the cheapest university in America that gives master degree on line
A: To be honest that is a bit of a contradiction in terms - "the best" does not equate to "the cheapest" and in most situations you get what you pay for in terms of both educational value, recognition and prestige.
Therefore you should decide what you want long-term and aim for this either cheapest (and then usually less educational/prestige worth) or best education (more expenisive, and more recognised prestige ) and work for what you want
Q: Are there any real on-line degree programs where I can get a one year certificate?
I'm not really sure in what though..
I'm just wondering if something like this really is out there..
Thanks!
A: Of course. You're just asking about a certificate program.
Online is fine for AA degrees and down. Tech degrees, certification degrees, etc. All are fine.
Online runs into real respectability problems at the bachelor level and up. Bachelors is sorta in the grey area. Kinda depends. Once you get up to the masters tho, online is VERY suspect.
Q: Where can start on and earn an on-line degree in history that will be considered legitimate?
A: Here in Canada, We have courses that offer though distant learning agencies that are accredited colleges and university. Two place you can look all this information up on is the web page for Thompson Rivers University and Lethbridge Community College. Here is the web site for Thompson Rivers University http://www.tru.ca/distance.html and Lethbridge Community College http://www.lethbridgecollege.ab.ca/. Best thing to do is go to your local community college or University and ask someone at registration or the library where you can find all the catalogues for all the Universities and Colleges in the United States there after a lot of looking you might find some accredited University or College that has distant education course you can take so you can get your history degree. When I went to my neighbourhood community college for a while I notice in the career centre piles of catalogues from all the Universities and Colleges in Canada that why I suggest you try there. Or go to your local university or college and ask to speak with the dean or chair of the history department many be they can help you find accredited on line history program. Good Luck.
Q: Is an On-line bachelore's degree, as good as getting a degree from a regular university?
I am in my forties and I want to finish my education. I have two years of college. At this age, I don't feel very comfortable attending classes and sitting next to 20 years olds. I just feel too self-conscious. Could I get a job if I get an On-line bachelore's degree in Accounting?
A: No, it's not quite as good as a brick-n-mortar University. But, college kids don't care if you're older than them so don't worry about that. There were a fair amount of returning students in some of my classes. If you'd rather go to school, I say: "Go!".
An online degree is better than no degree and yes, you could probably get a job in Accounting with it. (But a better degree could net more money or open more doors)
If you go back, the younger students won't care one way or the other - it's not high school. (just take it easy on the 1 million questions that slow down the class and observatons from the real world and you'll be fine).
Q: What is the best university for getting on-line degree in master of accounting?
Is there any web site to see all the best online universites
A: My favorite search tool for online degree programs is Peterson's at http://www.petersons.com/distancelearning/code/search.asp
You have far more options than the "as seen on TV" online colleges. Accounting is a perfectly suited field for online study.
