Q: Online Universities for a Masters Degree?
Do you believe that an accredited online college/university for a Masters Degree has any credibility yet in the world today? Will it help someone in the future? Do businesses look at this on a resume and take an online degree as having no value? Any experience in the area would be of help.

A: Most reputable schools offer on line masters programs. Syracuse, Boston University, Univ of Florida, Carnegie Mellon, and hell even Harvard has a on line graduate program. On line degrees from these schools and others are the same as the degree that you would get it you went to class on the campus. I would be wary of schools who are entirely on line like Capella, Walden and etc. Also beware of schools that don't carry a good reputation such as Univ. of Phoenix!!!!!!

Q: Doing a masters degree online from US from my parent country can make me viable for US work permit?

A: I doubt it. Students that come here to study can only work 20 hours a week during the school semesters and for the first year they have to work on campus. Maybe after you get your degree in whatever field you could get some sort of work permit. I'm really not positive. Here are a few websites you could check out. I would just do some research on the internet and you should be able a find a way to get here! Good luck!

Q: How can i get the online Masters Degree from any Indian Recognised University?

A: If you are from India then unfortunately we do not have any online master degrees which are recognized by universities.

Q: Has anybody gotten a bachleors degree online and than went to a regular college for a masters degree?
Has anybody gotten a bachleors degree online and than went to a regular college for a masters degree?

A: Yes But then, I have two bachelor's degrees and two master's now. The key is the quality of the college awarding the degree and not whether it was online or classroom. Your GPA, GRE/MAT scores, and experiences/achievements will also make a big difference in your application. If you're looking at those "as seen on TV" online degrees then they will probably hurt your grad school application. If you're looking at a traditional college that also teaches online (such as UMass or Florida or UTexas or ....) then you'll do as well as anyone else with a degree from that school. Study at the best school that you can get into whether that's online or classroom.

Q: What universities offer online masters degree in wildlife biology, zoology or ecology?

A: There are hundreds of universities in the U.S. that offer these degrees. Some of the better Universities out there in this field: Oregon State, Cornell, Michigan, University of Montana, Humboldt State, Wisconsin - Stevens Point, UC Davis. However, I would recommend finding a topic (e.g. landscape ecology, population genetics, ornithology, etc) that interests you and contact experts in that specific field to see if they are taking on grad students. Good luck.

Q: Where can I find an online masters degree in educational or christian ministries?

A: Most major universities have some type of master's deg. in education. It just depends on what type of education degree you want. There are several Christian universities in the U.S. as well. Liberty University is one that I know of. I think there is one in NC called Temple. I would go on the net and do a search. You will probably get lots of hits so you might want to narrow the search down to your region.

Q: masters degree online? is it credible?
Im trying to earn a masters degree but everyting is so pricy and time consuming. I have to work in the meanwhile. So are masters degree online actually credible? are they merited the same as a university?

A: As long as the online program is accredited and a reputable university. I personally wouldn't go to Walden or University of Phoenix. Many Universities offer online degrees that count the same as if you went to their campus. I would look for a program like that. What are you wanting to get your degree in? I just completed a masters in Early Childhood Education that only took 18 months and cost around 13,000.00. It wasn't too time consuming. I still manged to work full time and be a mommy. Plus I had the benefit of being able to go talk to my professors and classmates.

Q: Is an online Masters degree as well received as a standard Masters? I want to get a MS in Library Science.?
I have an undergraduate degree in English, and several graduate level credits in English and Education. I am a former public school English teacher. I want to pursue a Masters in Library Science, but will be residing in an area of Pennsylvania where there will not be a graduate program within commutable distance. Unfortunately due to work and commitments within my family, I will be unable to relocate to attend a university, and obtaining a Masters degree online is my only option. I don't want to waste money on a degree that will not be marketable. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best online Masters degree programs for Library Science? There seems to be a large selection of Masters programs online.

A: The MLIS is one of those degrees that's ideally suited for online study. The degree will be evaluated based on the reputation of the awarding college and not whether it was online or in-the-seat. DL MLIS holders are not as uncommon as online degree holders in some other fields. Also, you really need the program to be both regionally accredited and ALA accredited to get maximum utility. Some library science master's that I know exist (or have existed) online: [you need to check their accreditations, I haven't] Clarion U - Penn East Carolina Penn State - U Park Syracuse U U Alabama U Colorado - Denver U Illinois - Urbana U Washington Conn. State Emporia State Florida State Louisiana A&M Tx Women's U Illinois U Missouri - Columbia U North Carolina - Greensboro U Northern Colorado U North Texas U Southern Mississippi U South Florida U Tennessee - Knoxville http://www.ala.org/ala/accreditation/lisdirb/lisdirectory.htm is a good resource for more information. Note: Kaplan (regionally accredited and owned by The Washington Post) does not have a library science master's in their list of programs.
