Q: How can I fund my Masters Degree in Education Leadership and Management?
Hi I am an American citizen living in Endland as a UK resident with indefinant leave to remain. I have recently finished a BA Honours Degree in Educational Practice am am now continuing my education by doing a Masters Degree in Education - Management and Leadership. I am currently an Early Years Coordinator / Nursery School Teacher. I am looking for any finacial support that might be avilible to me. Any ideas?
A: OK, you won't like my answer but here goes:
You can't spell. And you obviously don't have what it takes to do a Masters Degree in Education Leadership and Management if you are asking strangers on the internet how to fund it.
Will you be asking on Y!A how to manage a school budget if you get the gig?
Q: I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree in Education. What kind of jobs can I get with that degree?
I am in school to receive a Masters Degree in Secondary Education, but I'm not sure that I want to be a high school teacher the rest of my life. I wish I could find a list of jobs one might be able to get with such a degree. Anybody have any ideas?
A: You could teach junior college (community college) or high school/middle school. My M.Ed. degree helped me when I was doing computer tech support in that I knew how to explain technical things to non-technical people. Now, I'm a pilot and my education background is helping me again (when I teach).
The great thing about an M.Ed. degree is that it's flexible and can fit to whatever you want to do in life.
Good luck.
Q: Should I get a masters degree in Education the same time I get my teaching certificate?
I ask because it makes sense since I already have a BA in Psychology. However, one teacher told me I shouldn't because schools may not want to pay me more since I don't have much experience but a Masters degree. I should get it after I get a job.
A: I think it's fine....school districts SHOULD be more concerned with hiring knowledgeable, qualified teachers and less concerned about how much they pay. I'm not saying that's how all districts think....However, I know of a few districts in my area that require a master's degree and if you don't have one, they give you 2-3 years to get it.
PLUS when you start teaching, it does take up a lot of your time and energy, you may not want to devote your few precious hours each day to studying for the GRE, applying to grad schools, then hitting the books, writing research papers, internships, and going to class....
Q: What's the benefit of a masters degree in education?
I'm a senior at ASU with a 3.8 GPA, I want to go to grad school for education. What benefit does a masters degree provide me as a non-education undergrad major?
Would initial salary be higher?
I also want to go into coaching or athletic administration, would this help?
My B.S. is in recreation.
A: The M.A. will do two things for you.
It will qualify you to teach at high schools and community colleges, should you ever choose to do this.
It will also provide you with a better understanding of your field or specialty; after all, that is the purpose of education.
Q: What school will let me get my Masters of Arts in Education (MAT) degree without a BA/BS in education?
I'm majoring in International Studies, but would like a Masters degree in Education to become a teacher. What schools will let me do this?
A: You do not need a BA in education to get a masters degree, but a BA/BS is necessary to teach. Your BA can certainly be in international studies and that will suffice for entrance to a masters program as long as you have sufficient academic specific credit. What do you plan to teach? say you were going to get a secondary math credential. The school would require you to have enough math units to qualify for your credential before admitting you.
Not all schools require this as not all masters candidates plan to teach. However check with your local board of education. Teachers in California cannot teach with simply a masters degree. Usually the school packages credential qualification with the master's program. This then usually makes a major in your teaching subject field a requiremenet.
Q: What can you do with a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education besides teach?
What can you do with a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education besides teach? What can you do with a degree (masters or doctorate) in educational psychology?
I am really interested in education but I do not want to be a teacher. I like studying education.
A: design curricula, teaching plans, write books

Q: What are some good schools for a masters degree in education/teaching?
Please list what you think the req criteria would be.
A: Here is a ranking of top education masters programs. Good luck.
Q: what are some good universities for online masters degree education?
A: I'm about to go to Graduate school for a Master's of Library Science at San Jose State University through their Cal-State University Fullerton program, which is mostly online. However, I seriously considered Drexel University which is completely online (and a very well-regarded school!) I'm not sure what else these Universities offer, but they are fully accredited and I think that because this is the information age, this is becoming more popular and schools are quickly moving to not just offer it but to have the best program possible!
Q: How I can volunteer to teach Aborigines? I live in Australia with a work visa and masters degree in education.
I have watched several SBS documentaries on the educational system and want to help in any way possible. I know this is a sensitive issue and my knowledge of the history of this topic is not well-rounded, but I would rather my time go to good. I am in Sydney currently with the ability to move, but I want to volunteer for a not for profit organization.
A: go to a search engine and type in "volunteer vacations", and you will get a few websites that offer help to do what you are trying to do. It also offers discounts for airfare, government funding, etc.
I remember reading an article on yahoo about a month or so ago about things like that.
Q: I have a masters degree in education and want to know if I can teach in the US?
Is it possible to teach in the US and is there an upper age limit to move htere permanently?
A: It depends on what state you move to. Each state regulates the teachers in that state. For California, you would need your Bachelor's Degree and Masters Degree evaluated by a company that would convert it to US standards, you would then need to pass the CBEST (basic skills test), and maybe take the CSET (specific subject matter test). You might also need to take classes on classroom instruction. It's a long process. Good luck if you decide to do it.
Q: What's the difference between having a bachelors degree in elementary education & a masters degree in that...
same field?I ask this as far as job opportunities or even salary is concerned.
Maybe that's true in California but not Florida. But thanks for the advice any way:)
A: It really is dependent upon the state you're in and how competative it is for a teaching position. When I lived in NJ, I could not find a teaching job right away with my BA in Spec. Ed. so I took a paraprofessional position first. Even though SpEd positions are always in demand, I was inexperienced. A few years later I moved to Arizona and there is a huge teaching shortage here. No one cared whether I had my Bachelor's or my Master's degree in education. The cared if I had my certification to teach.
I graduated with my BA in 1996, and I'll be finished with my Master's in Spring '08, then continuing with an additional year of Admin coursework. There is a difference in salary, but in all honesty it is experience that school districts are looking for, AND if you are a cost effective teacher. Someone with a BA will get a lower salary than someone with an MA, even if they have the same number of years in the classroom. All districts want to save money somewhere. My former principal told me once that there was a candidate he reccommended for hiring, but he was overly qualified and would have cost the district more in salary.
And the major difference right now is about $12,000+ in tuition and Graduate related expenses.
If I had to do it over again, I probably woudl have gone for my Master's Degree sooner, but I still needed the experience to be a good teacher. Plus, with any profession, you're always learning something new.
Q: I am a teacher in the Philippines who wants to take Masters Degree in Special Education. Where can I enrol?
Masters Degree in Special Education e.g. Children with Learning Disabilities or Disabled children is the course I want to take. I would like to have it in Luzon if possible
A: There are also good online programs around, but you have to shop carefully, and then make sure your DOE will accept the degree from that online univeristy before you enroll.
Q: How many years of college would it take to get a Masters degree in Elementary Education?
I really want to be either a Kindergarten or 1st grade teacher... just wondering how long it would take to get my degree... :)
Thank you both for your answers. They were really helpful. :]
A: around six or seven years. However, you do realize that you only need a bachelors degree tot teach kindergarten and first grade? Anyway, wish you well in your studies
Q: I have a masters degree in education. I have been a teacher for five years. I want a change, any thoughts on ?
finding a new job? Anything other than dealing with children.
A: You could try adult learning, coaching mature students preparing for university. Or even for foreign students wanting to prefect their English. We take in a lot of mature students through a charity called HOST and most of the students are here for 1 or 2 years therefore there must be scope for teaching English on a private basis.
Q: masters degree in education california?
