Q: Online degree programs for people with math problems?
Im currently in an in person college for medical assisting. I know I'm much smarter than that and want to have a real associates degree. I have a math problem and places like University of Phoenix require too much math. What schools do not require alot? I want to definately work in healthcare. Do any online programs offer nursing?
A: There are online programs that offer nursing for people who are already in the health professions and working (LPN, Paramedic, Technicians) but none that are appropriate from start to finish.
As for the math - let me suggest that you either take some remedial math classes and learn it, or give up the nursing idea. There is some serious math in nursing.
Example: You want to give drug X to a patient who weighs 55 kilos. Your going to administer .05mg of the drug in 1:10,000 solution for every 10 kilos your patient weighs. You don't have any 1:10,000 but you do have it in 1:100,000 solution. How much do you give? Doc will be yelling at you if you haven't figured this out already.
Q: Need your opinion regarding Online Degree Programs?
seeking feedback from people who may have or may not have completed degree programs online. what did you not like about the class/course/program/school? what should have been done differently?
A: There are tons of online programs. I personally attended American Intercontinental Univ. and Capella University, and teach for the University of Phoenix. All three are accredited and solid programs. Online courses tend to vary in price, so we could say they are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies.
The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Is it worth it? YES. My career has boomed since my MBA at nearly 5 years ago. I am nearly finished my PhD through distance education, and I am at the job that I want. I know I wouldn’t be here without the education. If you are looking at work in the U.S., then you need a school that is accredited and recognized by the Dept of Ed. I can give more info on that later.
You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods (http://www.distancelearningalliance.com ). Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!
Q: Do any ivy league schools offer full online degree programs?
And if not ivy league, than what other respected colleges offer full online degree programs?
A: Of the Ivies, four offer programs wholly online.
Harvard teaches online and you can complete a lot of the ALM (Master of Liberal Arts) online but will have to visit Boston for some. They do environmental management and information technology wholly online but this is graduate level too.
Cornell and Columbia both offer many programs wholly online. UPenn and Yale (med school) both teach online but offer no full degrees.
Other highly regarded schools that teach online include UC-Berkeley, UCLA, U Florida, UMass, George Washington U., Johns Hopkins U, Stanford, Duke, Boston U., Penn State and more. Several at the bachelor's level but most at the master's (due to demand and time issues).
You might be very interested in exactly which colleges are offering wholly online degrees, certificates, and diplomas these days. Even Oxford University is in on it. Check the web page of your favorites and search their web for "distance", "extension", and "online" to find the programs. Remember, distance and extension don't always mean online but often will.
Q: Are there any decent online degree programs that are not just trying to rip you off?
I am looking into a criminal justice degree online but i cannot find a decent school. The University of Phoenix almost had me but i did more research and found out that it would have been a big mistake. These schools either want to rip you off or they have poor accreditation. I know i would be better off actually going to classes but my schedule does not permit that. I know that there are decent, reputable schools out there so does anybody know of any?
A: I do not have any personal experience with UoP, but I have friends that took classes there and had a great experience and I know people that hated it as well. I think that looking for a school to take classes online should be treated similarly to looking for any college. You should look at a good amount of schools to see which is the best fit for you and which will give you the most opportunities after you graduate. I did a brief search for online criminal justice degrees and found this site that has some schools you might want to check out. I would check out some similar sites to get a complete list of schools to look into.
Q: What are some good Associate Degree Online Fashion Merchandising Programs?
I'm a 24 year old working girl whos looking to go to school for fashion merchandising anyone know of any good online programs earning an associates degree in that major id much rather go online as much as i know college campuses offer the programs due to work schedule...
A: Academy of Art has a good online progam that you may to look at for Fashion Merchandising.
Q: Is there a difference between online degree programs and degree programs at a local university?
I AM INTERESTED IN ENROLLING IN AN ONLINE DEGREE PROGRAM BECAUSE I HAVE A HETIC WORK SCHEDULE AND I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO ATTEND A LOCAL UNIVERSITY. DO EMPLOYERS LOOK AT AN EDUCATION FROM AN ONLINE COLLEGE THE SAME AS AN EDUCATION AT A LOCAL COLLEGE???
A: When you get your degree it will not state that you got it online. I know alot of universities such as Arizona State University (History), Kansas State University(Education), and Northern Arizona University (over 20 different degrees) that offer degrees solely online. If you are looking for a university, might I suggest Northern Arizona University. Their online degree programs are just like the ones on campus, you follow the same degree checksheets, have the same instructors, and reep the same benefits without having to go to class. No one will have to know that you got you degree online.
Q: What do you think of online degree programs?
I am looking to do my MBA and have been thinking of just going back to the same business school I did my BA in. I went to the University of Buffalo and it ranks in the top 50business schools in the US by Forbes. Should I do that instead of an online degree?
If you have an MBA how did you do it? Where did you go? and did it help you in career advancement?
I had a BA in Business concentrating in MIS and currently work in IT as an applications support analyst/help desk.
A: Some programs are absolutely outstanding. Others are the bottom of the pile. There are places like Duke U. doing their MBA online and that MBA has much more value than one from say, Eastern Yourstate State College in the classroom.
The thing is, online at a quality school is really hard. There's a lot of writing to do and you don't get the 1:1 time with the instructor. You have to be a top-notch manager of time to do well in these programs.
The best advice, attend the best school you can get into (online or classroom) and do the best quality work you are able while there.
Q: Online colleges / Advanced degree programs. What do employers really think?
I would love to hear from management or HR personnel. Do employers prefer traditional degress or are these online and advanced degree programs acceptable? Can someone with an online degree really obtain a executive or professional position?
A: Unfortunately they're thought of as substandard degrees. They'll be considered if the job description has a mandatory BS/BA degree, however the hiring managers often pass on those resumes anyway, meaning you'll not get the opportunity to interview.
If you must do an online degree, make sure the university has an actual campus. No one will ask you if you did your degree online. UOP is the exception. They actually do have campuses now, but unfortunately it's too late. They're strongly associated with online and I would find another alternative. I've also yet to see an executive with a recognizable online degree.
I see a lot of resumes with recognizable online degrees and I feel sorry for those candidates. I wish someone would have told them before they spent all that time and money.
Q: Hi do you know of any international online universities that i can get in contact with for degree programs?
Hi i live in finland but i don't speak finnish and i'm interested in getting a degree in information technology ,but i don't think that i can get it here in finland seeing that i don't speak finnish so my best bet is an online universities. Q: where can i get a list of the online degree programs offered by the california state university system?
I saw a list the other day and can't get back to it. Don't want a general list of all programs by all colleges around the country -- just the CSUs
A: You could search the Web if you want :)
or better yet visit this link -
http://www.calstate.edu/datastore/degrees_majors.shtml
God bless us :)
Q: Legitimate online degree programs for anthropology?
I have a Bach of science in anthropology and psychology and would like to pursue a higher degree in anthro- does anyone know of legitimate online degree programs where I can get started with basic coursework before fieldwork is necessary?
A: I would not recommend any of them.
That being said, many colleges *do* offer online courses. I suggest taking online courses at a brick and mortar school.
Q: What's the tuition charge for the online degree programs?
I've been looking into them lately and I'm wondering what is the general price. Is it the same as on-campus schools or is it less?
A: It all depends which ones you are comparing it to. The tuition and fees rates should be posted in an easy to find spot, for both the on line and on campus programs.
Q: Where can I find cheap online degree programs in Florida for an AA in English or Creative Writing?
I don't mind pursuing a program that isn't in the state of Florida as long as it is affordable. Accredited schools are important, too.
A: Drury University!
It is an excellent school and is ranked as one of America's best colleges under the U.S. News College Rankings, annual 2009 report. If you want to pursue a Bachelors in the same fields I have compiled a list of other schools offering Bachelor degrees in the same Majors...
1. Northeastern University
2. Columbia College
3. University of Maryland - University College
4. University of Massachussetts - Boston
5. Southern New Hampshire University
Q: Do any Ivy League or top rated colleges offer online degree programs?
I am in the Associates in Health Care Administration through University of Phoenix and I am not that satisfied with the quality of education and the instructors credibility seems questionable.
I want to continue in the Health Care Administrator's program. I want to earn a Master's. However, I would like to do this through a better college.
Any college's or ideas would help me greatly, thank you!
A: While several such programs (see Columbia, e.g.) offer individual courses online, I don't think that any currently offer degrees that way. Furthermore, if you could find a program that would do this, the entrance requirements would have to be the same as those of the traditional university to avoid diluting the school's reputation, so unless you have a near-perfect high school GPA and SAT score, you wouldn't be able to get in.
I can sympathize, however, with your concerns with the U. of P. There may very well be a middle ground out there - a recognized, but not elite, school, that does offer such a program online. You might want to look at some of the state universities in more remote locations, which have used online programs as a way of maintaining enrollments despite less than perfect physical locations.
Q: What some brick and mortar colleges that offer online degree programs?
I know of a few, but I'm having trouble finding more.
Thanks.
A: California State Chico
Penn State
University of North Dakota
University of New Mexico
New Mexico State University
Indiana State University
Florida State University
California State University Dominguez Hills
Louisiana State University
This is just a small list. FInd out ehat you want to do and see what the school offers.
