Q: Does Belford University really exist? And what is the authenticity of their accredited degrees?
Can they be used like any other traditional degree?

A: You can get more information at Wikipedia if this isn't enough. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Belford University is an unaccredited online college offering degrees for "life experience." The organization maintains a post-office box in Humble, Texas, but the degrees it issues are mailed from the United Arab Emirates. Belford University is not accredited by any accreditation body recognized by its country. As such, its degrees and credits might not be acceptable to employers or other institutions, and use of degree titles may be restricted or illegal in some jurisdictions.

Q: Is the Princely International University Legal University? and their degrees accredited?
I want to register for a distance learning in petroleum engineering for Bachelor and Master.

A: It looks awfully like a diploma mill to me. First red flag: it is apparently accredited by Distance Learning International Accreditation Association. This organization, if you google it, does not seem to exist anywhere except on the website of Princely. The only distance learning organization that is legitimate is DETC, http://www.detc.org/. Secondly, they say "Distance learning universities do not usually share the same accreditation criteria that traditional universities do." That's utter rubbish, because DETC is one, and if this is university in the USA then it should also have regional accreditation irrespective of whether it is a purely distance education institution. Another red flag. They are clearly not accredited by any organization that has the function of accrediting legitimate universities. Then they say, "Established in America and run by some of the most recognized educators,... ". Really? Where in America? Everything about this stinks very like rotten fish to me. I would not touch it with a barge pole.

Q: How much Great Northern way campus degrees are accredited?
Considering for job and how much is that known among the people there.(as master's degree). What are your ideas about that?

A: The way I see it, that is just the campus. Your degree would be from one of the 4 schools that partnered to set up and run the facility. UBC, SFU, BCIT, and Emily Carr ---- all 4 are very reputable, and fully accredited.

Q: what are the names of some accredited universities in the us offering DPT degrees.?
I am a Physical Therapist with a B.S. Degree and a 4.0 pt. average looking for an accredited university in the US to continue my education and gain a DPT. I have recently received a green card(permanent residence).

A: If you already are a degreed therapist from another country, you may not even need to do this...I would submit your educational records to the federation of state boards of physical therapy in the state in which you hope to practice. If deemed elligible, you could sit for the licensure exam. Otherwise, what you would first need to do is to determine if you have met all the prerequisite courses for the DPT program. General chem, bio, physics, statistics, calc and/or trig and various psych courses. If you've met these courses already, you will need to take the TOFEL if educated in a non-English speaking country, also take the GRE and apply for admission. There is a list of accredited programs at www.apta.org

Q: What is a non accredited degree in the USA?
What is a non-accredited university in the USA and is it illegal to use such degrees. How can I verify as to which universities are fake/substandard?

A: Colleges, not degrees, receive accrediting. This is done through an organization, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SAC) Many colleges have not been accredited (endorsed) by a major standards organization. This is particularly true when a new college is added at a university (school of medicine, school of law, etc). It can take several years to pass committee review. It is the obligation of employers and postgrad schools to determine if an applicants credentials are satisfactory.

Q: What universities in Orange County, CA are accredited in issuing degrees on line?

A: If it's an online degree, it doesn't really matter where it's located does it?

Q: Can anyone provide any feedback, good or bad with regard to accredited "Life Experience Degrees"?

A: It's a scam. They will sell you a piece of paper saying you have a degree in anything you want, whether or not you have any experience in that field. They are not from accredited universities, so they are basically useless - no one will recognize it as a real degree. It doesn't count when you apply to jobs or to colleges. Don't waste your money.

Q: What do you know about lifetime experience degrees and which are accepted and accredited?.?
Lifetime experience degrees offered by online universities.

A: Don't do it! I would go to your local community college or public university (ex: University of Texas, NYU) to get info on online degrees/classes. You'll get a legit degree. Don't waste your time or money on something you aren't sure about. Also, some schools will let you count your work experience towards a degree. Only some do it and it's only like 9 hours. Talk to an adviser.

Q: Does Alpha Kappa Alpha recognize degrees from accredited on line schools?

A: Hello, I viewed our website under the area regarding prospective membership: http://www.aka1908.org/present/membership/prospectivemembers/ Unfortunately, I did not locate any information about online degrees; however, I do believe that the schools must be accredited by a governing body -- either regional or national 'google SACS.' Since the online degree situation was not addressed adequately on our website, I would suggest that you submit your question to a chapter. Here is the chapter locater link: https://akawebnet.aka1908.net/eweb/DynamicPage.aspx?webcode=CL I am a member of a chapter; however, we are on hiatus for the summer and also, we are celebrating 100 years of sisterhood; therefore, it will take a minute before you receive a response (possibly). Anyway, our National Headquarters will make the final decision regarding an online degree if you are invited to become a member. Logically, I cannot see why it would not be accepted -- since it is accredited! Best wishes and regards in your quest to become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated! Sincerely, Sweetpea

Q: How accredited are on-line universities and will degrees from them be recognized in the business world?

A: Degrees from online-only universities are accredited, but many employers see it as an easy way out. If you have to do an online degree, I recommend taking online classes from an actual university. Many respected universities offer online classes and degrees, and an employer wouldn't even be able to tell that you did the coursework online, because it isn't typically noted on your transcripts.

Q: Can you work abroad as a Quantity Surveyor with a degree not accredited by RICS?
I am due to finish my HNC building studies this summer. I am then due to carry on with the degree. However my universitys degree is not RICS accredited. I want to work abroad (Australia or Cyprus) once I have my degree. What are my chances of getting a QS job in these countries with a non RICS accredited degree. I am currently doing my HNC part time and work for a building company as a QS/ assistant QS. Am I best to get a job elsewhere where they will give me the opportunity to get an RICS accredited degree? Ask my company can I change universitys or does it not matter? Any advice much appreciated :)

A: I would strongly suggest your studies are RICS accredited.
