Q: How many courses (dishes) is a typical American dinner a family is having at home ?
So, strange question you might think, but I've been wondering about this for a while.
I do not mean how many courses you have at home, but how many is considered typical ?
Is it two, like the main course and the dessert or three like the starter, the main course and the dessert or just one or how many ?
How many course change is considered traditional ?
Thanks.
A: You must understand that the typical American home today could be Indian, Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Cuban....
This really is a melting pot & American cuisine is a wonderful combination of different foods from all over the world. It is possible to have Indian, Japanese & Middle Eastern dishes on the same table!
I am not sure what typical means but traditionally an average American meal was usually a soup or salad course, bread, a main course with 1-2 sides and dessert.
Q: What courses should I take in high school to get into an Ivy League university?
I am currently in 9th grade and my goal is to get into an Ivy League college. What are the best courses I can take in high school(grades 9 through 12)? If possible, can you tell me all the possible courses in high school and tell me which ones are the most advanced(best) courses? Thank you for your help!
A: By the way, what makes you want to go to an Ivy League school so badly? Just curious...
Wow....okay....there's no standardized list of classes that high schools offer; each school has a different course catalog, so this is a discussion that you have to have with your counselor. And of course, there's no winning, guaranteed solution to getting into an Ivy League college. But I got into the Ivy League, and this is what I took in high school:

Q: What courses do you take in medical school to become a surgeon?
When you go to med school, what are examples of the courses you can take? And what course qualifyes you to be a doctor? And after that, what course do you take to become a surgeon?
Please help asap!
A: Medical school trains you to become a MD. Once you become a MD you choose the medical specialty you want to pursue and enter a residency program.
The first two years of medical school are done in classrooms and labs. The instruction is called Basic Sciences and the courses are generally all about the same: Histology, Embryology, Genetics, Physiology, Biochemistry, Gross Anatomy, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Neurosciences and Pathology. These are the core sciences and each school adds additional classes such as Epidemiology and Ethics.
The second two years of medical school are called Clinical Rotations. This is where students are taught by senior physicians in settings such as hospitals, clinics and offices. The rotations are done in the major specialties (Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn, Surgery, Psychiatry and Family Medicine. Each rotation is a varying length--from weeks to months. Then there are elective rotations, which you select and can be medical and surgical specialties.
By the time you finish your four years in medical school you will have a good idea of what specialty you will want to practice. The majority of students who enter medical school with a specialty in mind change their minds during school.
The residency programs for the surgical specialties vary in length. You can go here: http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/2997.html to learn about the various surgical specialties, the programs that offer that training and the duration of the residency.
Good luck!
Q: What highschool courses should I take if i want to become a doctor in the future?
When i say that I mean like AP chemistry, courses like that. Do I have to take really advanced math courses too? Like stat or something. Please explain what the best courses to take would be.
A: Advanced sciences and math ( adv. algebra, calculus) are the best choices. If your school offers statistics, I'd take that as well. If you have bad handwriting, you are already ahead of the curve as most doctors can't write for &*^%....lol.
Q: Is there more work in January start courses ?
I am considering changing my course and joining a new course in January.... this would be an HNC course....
are January start courses which last for 6 months harder and do they contain more work than the one year course ? and do you go for more days ?
any one done a january start course ?
thanks !
A: A few years back I did a fast-track course. They are a lot more demanding; if you miss a day, that is usually about two days work. You attend pretty much the same amount of days, anything between 2-5 days per week. It depends on the actual course. I wouldn't say they are harder, as they have the same content. You are just trying to get through it in less amount of time.
Good luck!
Q: What courses do i take in college for early childhood education and requirements?
Anyone know the requirements of the courses i need to do for electives to be in a good college like the california states one.
What courses to take in earlychildhood education in high school and college?
A: You do not need any courses in high school but you can select from the somewhat limited electives.
As far as college is concerned to an extent the courses that are given are required by the state for certification.
Contact the California State Education Department and ask them about the qualification for an early childhood license. Colleges too will have this information but it is good to get it from the horses mouth,
Q: What courses would help an English major in the business world?
I'm graduated with an English degree and I've noticed a lot of companies I'm interested in require some business know how. I want to take some business courses but don't have enough time to attend college full-time. Would a business certificate from extension courses make the slightest difference on my resume, or is it better to simply get a bachelor degree from an online college? Or get an AS degree from a community college? I'm looking for the choice that would have the most impact on future employers.
A: I too have an English degree with writing emphasis - generally showing that you are capable of communication is the biggest advantage you will have while looking for a job. I have never had a problem getting a job based upon not having enhanced my education with business certification, but I have indicated in my application that I am willing to obtain such upon receipt of a job offer - and the company I worked for paid for the courses! There are too many people with business or marketing degrees out there, and not enough that know proper sentence structure or syntax, and more frequently large companies are looking for that ability to effectively communicate ideas. Good luck!

Q: What courses are required to become a commercial pilot?
I'm still a kid: 13 years old, grade 9. But its been my lifelong dream to become a pilot but i dont know which courses to take.
I know you need to be in the science course but there must be more other than physics, right?
Right now, im doing computer science which i think is required. Is it?
A: In the USA, there are NO REQUIRED courses one must take in secondary school or at the university level to become a commercial pilot. Your formal education and the subjects you take have no bearing on your becoming a pilot save that the airlines prefer (and many require) at least a bachelors degree of their pilot candidates.
Math, science, physics ect are ONLY required to the extent the school requires for graduation. People that say otherwise (like you must take advanced math, engineering ect ect) are plain wrong. That is simply not true in the USA. (Heck, in Europe, a formal degree isn't even required at some airlines.)
The only REQUIRED "courses" you must take would be the ground schools (or it can be one on one tutoring as well) for the various pilot certificates and advanced ratings during your pilot training. Subjects such as:
Airplane and aerodynamics
Airplane systems
Federal Aviation Regulations
Airports and airspace
Airplane performance
Aeromedical factors
Weather
Navigation
Cross-country flying
Flight Operations
Airplane Performance and weight & balance

Q: What courses should i take in high school, to become an electrician?
What courses do you recommend, and what courses do i need to take?
A: This is a link to an school who trains in this profession. It will help you get an idea of the process and requirements:
http://houston.jatc.home.att.net/
If you attend a comprehensive high school there should be classes that are directly related to this field and they will have prerequisites to the class. Mathematics such as Algebra, Geometry and Physics. Any class that will teach you about schematics will also help you. In addition, you can obtain a study guide for the licensure exam and get an idea of the types of things you will be tested on and take classes that are related to the subjects on the exam.

Q: What are good courses to take before law school?
K, I know that you are required to get a degree before law school so I was wondering what are some courses that I should take when I get to university. My career counselor said business and a course that I can get good grades at. Is that a good idea? Any other ideas?
A: http://gradschool.about.com/od/lawschool/f/lawclass.htm
Not a definitive list by any means, but something to get you started. Classes that rigorously develop reading, writing, and reasoning skills are what I've been told. If you pick up an LSAT prep book, you can tell just what type of thinking and problem solving skills they expect. Best of luck to you!
Q: What kind of courses can I take that will teach me how to create a computer-based game?
I have no experience in computer programming or anything related. What kind of courses should I take at a local community college that will teach me how to create a computer/internet-based game.
Please be specific as to what these courses might be called. Thanks.
A: Unfortunately, there are not a lot of courses offered in the field of game development. Though there are a lot of books and you can take general programming courses which will help you out tremendously. To the last guy who said "The software does all the work": Who do you think creates that software??
Anyway, I would recommend taking a course in C and C++
and check out Beginning Game Programming by Jonathan S. Harbour
Good luck to you
Q: What courses do i need to take for psychology?
I'm in Grade 11, and I want to be a psychologist. What courses do I need to take in high school so I can be a psychologist. I'm taking Anthropology, is that a good start?
A: that's good, but you'll get everything you need in college - most of what you get in high school won't do you any good except maybe make a couple classes easier for you.
I majored in psych in college. To be a psychologist you'll need basic psych, abnormal psych, chemistry classes if you want to be a psychiatrist (they write perscriptions, psychologists do not), research and statitics classes and some writing. There are lots of other more specific psychology classes you'll be able to take in college.
