Q: Primary school?
My son is 3 years and seven months old and has been going to nursery since he was 9 months.
I have been told he cannot start reception/primary school until September next year by which time he would almost be five. He was born in October and we live in the UK.
can someone please shed some light as I feel he will be too old to remain in his current nursery by the time he is eligible for Primary
.
A: The school are correct but can I suggest something.
I assume your son has been in a private nursery which caters from babies up, does the school he will go to next year have a nursery class?
If so try see if you can get him in there. School nursery classes are usually more educational based where private nurseries are more care based.
I run a nursery class and work closely with the local private nursery. We have parents who move their kids to us when they turn 3,(from private care) for their free sessions because they feel it prepares their kids for school.
If they need full day care you could organise for the private nursery to pick them up - it works really well with our situation.
Q: What do primary school kids have in those bags with the school emblem on them?
This applies to the UK. During the past 3 or 4 years, I have seen primary school children taking an A3 sized bag which is the same colour as their school jumpers with the logo on it. They are also carrying a normal school bag and sometimes a lunch box or bag.
As I don't know of anyone with a primary school aged child, I cannot ask them.
A: they carry their school reading books that are given to them to read at home, and they take them back to school as they read it to their teacher. also sometimes the work they do at school they are allowed to take them home later
Q: What is a good primary school and high school in the Mount Barker area?
We are moving to Adelaide in the new year and would like to know if there is a good primary school in this area and also if Mount Barker high is any good? Also we are considering Mawson Lakes and while we can find a good primary school are struggling to find a good high school in the Mawson Lakes area. Any ideas?
A: First of all Adelaide is a big city so you need to be more specific on what part of Adelaide you are moving to for me to recommend a good primary school. The second part of your question is Mount Barker High School a good school and the answer is yes. and the third part of your question about good high schools in the Mawson Lakes area. Try Endeavour College or Thomas More College http://www.endeavour.sa.edu.au/about/welcome.asp and http://www.thomasmore.adl.catholic.edu.au/main.htm and the website below will you give you more information of schools and the Mawson Lakes community general information.
Q: How should I boost enrolments at our wonderful primary school in western Brisbane?
My kids go to Brisbane Independent School at 2447 Moggill Rd, Pullenvale. This alternative primary school is at the cutting edge of education, encouraging students to balance freedom and responsibility from the very earliest years. This is resource-intensive, thus classes are kept to 15 students.
This is an expensive way to educate, though, and our community-owned and independent school always seems to struggle financially. How do I make more people in the wider community aware of what a fabulous school this is, so that we can boost our enrolments a little?
Unfortunately there seems to be a perception within the local community that this school is some kind of hippy commune, when the reality is that our families represent the same cross-section of society as any other school in the area. If anything, we may be more conservative, on the whole!
We're having our Open Day on Sunday 16th September, 10am-2pm. How do I get more people to come?
A: a big sign out the front about the open day is a good start(drove past there today & dident notice one) get the Quest local paper to do a pice on the school about the open day radio stations that have a comunity spot put fetes on so may do the same for a open day
Q: What is a popular song young primary school kids would like and recognise?
I have to play a little demonstration on the piano for young primary school kids at the end of november. What are some songs that all ages in primary school would recognise and like? Even a current top chart?
A: Hannah Montana or High School Musical
Q: Anyone know about the primary school on San Salvador in the Bahamas?
I am traveling to San Salvador this week and heard that their school buildings were destroyed by hurricanes a few years back. Do you know if the schools have been rebuild yet, or are the kids still in trailers. I would like to bring some donations with me for the primary school kids and teacher and want to be sure I bring something they need.
I was planning on taking down some playground toys (soccer balls, jump ropes, etc.) and maybe some books and/or school supplies that might be useful.
Thanks in advance for any first-hand information.
A: I was on San Salvador last year. I can't tell you for sure about the school, but I can tell you about the island in general. Anything and everything you can take with you will be greatly appreciated. The locals are wonderful, friendly people. The standard of living is low (compared to the US) and help for their children would never be turned down.
Q: What happens after kids go to primary school in developing areas?
I want to go to Kenya to build a school with Free the Children...
And my friend asked me what happens after they graduate primary school.. How does it alleviate the cycle of poverty if they just go back to work? I had no clue how to answer him.
If just one child from the village goes to university, that is amazing, but what happens to the rest? How does education help them if they don't go on to pursue education past grade 5?
A: Well its really not that complicated.
In Kenya education for the most part is still not free let alone affordable, so even primary school graduates are at a higher standing than lets say 1st grade dropouts. In the U.S high school graduates are also at a higher socio economic level than high school dropouts and those high school graduates are more likely to pursue higher education. In Kenya secondary school is kind of like college, you have to apply, pay tuition, get accepted e.t.c..so if a child completes primary school hes 1 step closer to attending secondary school than a child who doesnt.
My great grandfather completed 5th grade and stopped but back then it was a huge accomplishment and his children (my grandfather) were able to attend university. So because my great great grandfather saw the value in education my grand father was able to become of the first kenyans to get a degree abroad. And my parents both went and got their doctotes. So giving poor children in kenya that opportunity to get an education really sets them on the right foot.
and another thing ***
I've always been an advocate for education, Kenya does not need food or any other sort of humanitarian aid, we need education. I was in kenya last summer and I saw children walking 8 miles a day, barefooted, in the hot equatorial sun and when I asked them what they wanted, I got answers like school books, pencils, books, shoes to walk to school,...it seems like everything they wanted revolved around school and truly education is the only thing that can get these children out of this corrupt system.
Q: How are children allocated primary school places?
My daughter will be starting primary school soon, do I have to to choose a school or will she be allocated a place automatically? If it is the latter, will she get a place at the school nearest to where we live?
A: Derdy dol is right for the uk
Q: What are the primary factors to consider when selecting a school for your children in SA?
I have a 4 year old son who will start school in 2 years (I should book now) and was wondering what to look out for when selecting a primary school?
I live in Pretoria, Equestria if you know of any good primary schools, please let me know.
A: Bull!?
You are a dad? Shweet!!!!
I'm not sure of any PTA schools, but I suppose you'd need to visit premises...
A school not too far from home or maybe your work place... so you can fetch him in time.
If its expensive, believe me its worth it...
it should have an after care, coz you never know what may cause you to be late...
Get an overall background and brochure from the school, ask previous parents you meet there...etc
Thats all i can think of now, except I know when my little one comes I'll be even more obsessed than I am now...
Good luck boet
Q: I want to be a primary school teacher. How can I organise work experience in a UK primary school?
To get onto a PGCE course you need work experience in a primary school but I'm unsure about how to go about getting that experiece. Cheers for any suggestions.
A: Go to your local town hall and ask for someone on the education committee for your area. In most areas, student teachers are in great demand. You'll be doing them a favour.
Q: How many Children attend Primary School in Northren Ireland and the United Kingdom with Asthma?
As the 6th May 2008 is World Asthma Day, I thought I would pose the question on how many Children are going to Primary school and Secondary School with Asthma.
And the second part of the Question is this. Would teachers know what to do if a child has an attack?
A: I am asthmatic and i have been suffering since i was 5 years old. Now im past primary and secondary school, however, i dont think all teachers know what to do if someoen was to have an asthma attack in school...
With Love...x
Q: How much do primary school teachers earn in the UK?
Okay. So I am condsidering a few careers. But I have this enormous passion to teach primary school pupils!
I know what I would have to do in terms of qualifications but out of interest roughly how much do they get paid?
Does anyone have a ballpark figure?
A: Hiya,
The teaching pay scale is £20,133 - £34,281 per annum.
Might I also add that Hannah B has a very over-active imagination. There are plenty of jobs out there, I work in a top primary school in North Tyneside, and they only had 8 candidates for 3 vacancies. Apparently all of the candidates were rubbish aswell. If you are good at your job, you will have no problems finding work. Especially as over 70% of primary school teachers are approaching retirement age.
Q: How do i become a primary school teacher?
i'm going up to college next year and going to study childcare and just wondered if i could become a primary school teacher with a CACHE certificate and diploma in childcare and education, as it is equivalent to 3 A-levels and then i would like to go to university.
I would really appreciate advice!
thanks.
A: You would probably want to talk to your advisor when you get there. They can point you in the right direction of what classes and tests you need to take.
Q: How do I become a primary school teacher in Sydney Australia?

Q: what date in August do children start Primary School?
Hi my 4 year old school is starting Primary in West Dunbartonshire and i believe it is in August although someonesaid it could be early september. Anyway i am booking us a few days away to Paris which is for either 14th Aug to 17th Aug or 21st Aug to 24th Aug. Obviously i dont want to interrupt my childs school so does anyone know when the kids start.
A: It looks like the start date is 19th August. To be certain phone the school and ask - they will know all the dates for the next couple of years. There may be a difference between primary and secondary, and there may be 'phased entries' for reception classes and year1. The website below is handy.
