Q: How can i teach to junior schools on why it's important to keep the environment green?
I'm doing a project in my college and has to write a convincing essay on approaching junior schools in which some 4th and 5th graders might not even care about the environment. And i do not really has much ideas. So assist me !!! Your answer(s) would be greatly appreciated!!

A: Dear Andrew, Please visit PBS.org as they have 1000's of programs for teachers to share with their students. I recently watched one of their programs on the environment. It was excellent If you cannot find what you are looking for easily you can contact them.

Q: Why did they change junior high schools to middle schools?
Was it because of the Neo cons and liberals in the education establishment who wanted to make schools more sinister or was it just because the Neo cons and liberals (dumb fu**s of the education establishment) just thought it was junior high for too long and needed to be changed.

A: Demographics were the reason for the change from junior high to middle school. The change began in the early seventies as the Baby Boomers grew up and the next gen, the Baby Busters or Gen Xers were a much smaller demographic group. School districts had to do some major shuffling of students and teachers due to declining enrollments. The 1970s and early eighties saw the closure of many schools. Seattle saw the closure of Queen Ann High (now converted to condos!) and Lincoln High. The Highline District (south of Seattle) closed Glacier High. The Edmonds District shut down Woodway High and was merged into Edmonds High. Many junior high schools closed down and many elementary schools also closed. When faced with declining enrollments it is far easier for a school district to shut down elementary and junior highs than it is to close a high school. There is too much emotional attachment to high schools. So the school districts will close and consolidate the grade schools and move the sixth graders to middle schools and move the ninth graders to high school. If the districts already have 9th graders in the high schools, then they will move the fifth graders into a middle school setting and middle school will be grades 5 through 8. The fifth and sixth graders will be on one bell schedule and the seventh and eighth graders on another one. That way the younger kids will be spared the harassment the older kids might perpetrate on the little ones! In order to close underused elementry schools, the sixth graders were moved into the new concept middle schools and the ninth graders were moved to high schools to better populate the expensive physical plants. No conspiricy theories needed here. This was due to demographics plain and simple.

Q: What do you think of Junior/Senior High Schools?
In other words, schools that contain grades 7-12 or 6-12. Is it better for students to remain at the same school from junior high through high school, or should they be separated? What are your experiences?

A: Okay, when I first read the Trixie Belden series (you know the school girl detective) the series took place in NY in West Chester County which is right outside of NYC. Trixie, her brothers and all their friends went to a junior/senior high school. I found this to be so interesting! I think it would be good for students...on a learning level. The older kids guiding and mentoring the younger students. I do know that in NY state that this was a standard practice and that there are still school districts that have junior/senior high schools. Also on Degrassi: The Next Generation.... which takes place in Toronto, Ontario...the characters attend a school that goes from grade 7 to grade 12 which would technically make it a junior/senior high school. In most residential and day private schools the grades fluctuate between 7 to 12, 6 to 12, 1st to 12, and 5 to 12, and 4 to 12....so it all depends on what type of school, school district and learning environment. I think it would be better for students because of the way life is---I always hung out with the older kids and looked up to them. Many of them were popular and cool. But there is a flipside if there are junior/senior high schools--there should be some type of division in regards to location of lower graders and upper grades so that the learning environment is conducive to each peer group!

A: What does JMI stand for?

i want to know what percent of junior high schools have a baseball or a softball team.

Q: Do all junior high schools require showers after gym?
I'm going into middle school this year and I'm going to Ramsey junior high in St paul, Minnesota. I was wondering if all junior highs require showers across the state (not that I don't want to but the school website didn't post anything about their school day and how each class works and everything).

A: No. You are not required to. Usually, if you start a swimming unit it would be nice to rince off the chlorine in the showers though. You do have to change into gym clothes because during P.E. you do different sport units and run track and you don't want to be doing that in your school clothes and get them all dirty and sweaty. Hope this helps! =)

Q: How do I find the current track and field records for junior high schools in Garden Grove California?

Q: What junior golf schools are there in South Africa for teenage boys who wish to make a career in golf?
My son is 15 years old, and desperate to get professionally trained, preferably with a scholarship. With no professional training, and only able to play weekends, he has come down to a 9 handicap in one year. He has the skills, and has the determination and character to put in the sweat to make a success and become a professional. He eats, sleeps, dreams, thinks golf, and he needs a break to pursue his dream.

A: Have a look at this link. It may help you. It is the South African Golf Association. http://www.saga.co.za/

Q: Does anybody know how sucessful school appeals (junior schools) are?
The local authority say theres very little chance, but i have spoken to other parents who have told me of sucess stories .. what do you think?

A: I had to appeal for my daughter to get a place in our primary school. Check all the data issued by the school. I managed to successfully gain a place by proving the school had a place - officially 209 but there were only 208 children. However they claimed that the year group my daughter was entering was full. Good luck.

Q: i am a junior in high school, is it too late for me to transfer high schools?
i am a junior and i go to a private school, and i want to go back to the public school that i used to go to 3 years ago. is it too late to transfer since i will be graduating in about a year.

A: nope I transfered my high schools to complete just my last semester. It was well worth it, gave me time to concentrate on my studies instead of partying with my friends.

Q: How long does it take to transfer junior high schools?

A: that all depends on how messed up the bureaucracy is in your school district if your school year has already started, i'd say give it a couple weeks, then if you don't get anything back, get one of your parents to follow it up office people usually respect adults more than the students good luck

Q: What junior high and high schools are in Shingu, Japan?
I am in 9th grade so would I be in junior high or high school?

A: you would be in your last year of junior high.

Q: Is switching schools while in Junior High a good idea?
Is it easy to make friends? I want to switch schools because so many people treat me badly in my current school. Will it be the same if I switch schools?

A: to start off, junior high is hard for EVERYONE, so no matter where you go, there is going to be a group of people who arent very nice. if you dont have a good group of friends, join a club, or a sports team. i met half of my friends by joining a leadership group, and they are very supportive in everything i do. the bottom line is, junior high SUCKS, and by switching schools, it might be harder on you. if it gets worse, talk to your school counsler, and ask him/ her about switching schools. hope i helped. :]

Q: Should public infants, junior primary schools uniform shoul be complusory?
I understand comprehensive, as you want to make the teenager understand that when they go to work they need to look smart and represent the company that they work for. But for kids under 10 i dont see it as a neccessarity, they are so much more comfortable in joggers and a t-shirt.

A: I work in education. I see children dressed in the latest fashion , designer clothes and expensive jewlrey. i see other children in clothes that are old and tattered. The parents of the poorly dressed kids can't afford expensive clothes and their children usually stay on the sidelines, feel inferior and are made fun of by the other children. This happens in all age groups. If there was a uniform all would be equal and this would be one less stress kids wouldn't have to deal with. The uniform could be as simple as an inexpensive pair of jeans and a tee shirt.
