Q: If the high school diploma is = to the GED then should a schlarshp winner lose their schlrshp 4 getting a GED?
I think they should get to keep their scholarship. Not be punished for choosing GED.Those who get their GED are just as smart as those who finish high school. My child lost their full scholarship for choosing to get a GED over a high school (GED scores are high) diploma. Isnt' this discrimination?
A: 1] should have checked the rules for accepting the scholarship
2] colleges have admission criteria - and they almost always include GRADUATING high school. They can esatablish any criteria they want, as long as it is not discriminating against anything illegal. [ sex, race, religion, ethnicity, etc. ]
3] look up the admission requirements to school involved, and whatever he/she signed to accept the scholarship - or maybe you could appeal to the scholarship committee.
Q: How does the high school diploma program work at job corps?
I mean is it while you get vocational training or is it separate? Do you go to a regular high school for it? An whats the actual diploma like, is it like a normal high school diploma or is it kinda different?
A: Information is below.
Q: Can I get a high school diploma while studying abroad?
I hope to spend all four years of high school studying abroad, but I didn't know if I could get my high school diploma in Belgium.
After high school, I plan on attending college in the US, my home country, but I don't know where to start planning this.
I am also concerned about my SATs.
I was also wondering if I couldn't get a diploma from Belgium, could I get an online one or a homeschool one?
A: You can either study at an international school in Belgium that offers a US accredited diploma, or you can study in a Belgian school and get the credential that they offer. There should be no reason why a US college would not accept that for admission. They are likely to be very interested in your application since most American high school students will not have taken such a non-traditional route.
Q: What is the difference between a high school diploma and a GED?
I am currently taking high school courses through distance learning to receive my high school diploma. Some people have suggested for me to take the GED because sometimes I have difficulty studying from home. Ultimately, I would want to continue on with my courses. But I am wondering, what is the difference between the two? Will having a high school diploma guarantee better admissions in college and a better job?
A: A high school diploma basically means you have completed the required courses at an accredited high school. A GED means you took a test demonstrating a basic proficiency in high school level courses. In most cases a GED should be just as good as a diploma. However, if you want to get into a competitive university you should probably contact the admissions office at the school to see if that would hurt your chances. I'm guessing that a GED with a high enough SAT or ACT score would probably be fine.
In the real world, I think there is a bit of a bad stigma attached to a GED. In general, I think many people see that you got a GED and assume you couldn't hack it in a normal high school.
Either way, once you have a job or two and/or start going to college, most people won't really look twice at what you did in high school.
FOR KAY:
I agree that a college degree is important, but having a college degree is no guarantee of a good income just as not having a college degree does not preclude you from earning a good income. I don't have a college degree (although I have about 110 college units) and I should earn close to $50,000 this year. I know there are many college grads that won't earn that much in a year.
Q: Is a high school diploma from a home schooling program the same as one from an actual high school?
I had to drop out of high school due to exenuating circumstances and picked up where I left off through home schooling so I could graduate. I'm just wondering if the diploma I get from the home schooling will be worth the same, academically speaking, as if I had kept going to school.
The program or school or whatever that I'm going through is American School.
A: Academically speaking, most diplomas are the same. They are ceremonial pieces of paper acknowledging you met the requirements of that particular institution, whether it be the home, a co-op, private or public school.
Academically speaking, your concern is with your transcript and test scores (if you choose to go to college).
Take a look at your classes. What did you take? If you are concerned if your credits are the same as the public school, then see if you took the same type of classes. You know, 4 credits of English, 3 credits of science, so on and so forth.
Since you said you "picked up where you left off" it sounds as if you kept your original "diploma" plan in mind and continued on with it, so I'm sure if you did that, your transcript will read the same as if you kept on attending your original school.
My point is, it is the content with which you should be concerned. Most people can have a 4.0 by taking modern film viewing (watching movies and eating popcorn) cooking 101 (boiling water) and athletic appreciation (catching the game on tv) Make sure what you choose to study will serve you well for the future.
Q: Why is getting your high school diploma so important? What do you get out of graduating?
Why do u need a high school diploma do get a good job? What do most people get out of it? Why are we required to attend school till the age of 18? Why should we take classes that we know that we are not going to need with the job that we know that we want to work?
A: I get a sense that you feel that high school is a waste of time. Some of your points could be valid.
Part of what a high school diploma shows is a minimum acceptable level of education. You can do more then print your name and add simple numbers. You understand that history didn't start in 1986. You realize that there are people who live somewhere else then your home town. And that you have to solve problems not just by doing something, but by thinking about it and using a process as well.
Yeah, there is those group or cliques you have to deal with ... and some of them are quite mean and stupid. Guess what, you won't see many of them after age 18. Some will move or you will move. Some will do things completely different then you. And one day, you'll be in the supermarket ... older, wiser and smarter ... and someone who you don't recognize will come up and tell you hi, and that you haven't changed a bit.
But here's one you didn't talk about. How are you going to demonstrate to employers, colleges or others that you can start and complete a lengthy process. That four years represents a fifth of your life to that point. High school dropouts show a lack of patience with process. They can't trust that it would take 720 days of attendance to complete something - they want their good now!
Some see education as a chore. Some see it as a right. Some see it as a priviledge. And many of us see it as some of each .....
Q: How can I replace my high school diploma?
I'm Trying to get a job and unfoutunately It's asking for my high school diploma. Which unfoutunately my old roomate threw away, along with other important papers. Should I call my old high school or what?
A: Your old high school is the best place to ask on how you can get another diploma. After all they have all your records.
Note: Some employers might want to verify if you really had finished your schooling in that school. So get it from them.
Good luck with your job hunting!
Q: How long does it take for a high school diploma to arrive?
I graduated from high school at the end of May. At first, no one got their actual diploma, and it has been over a month since the graduation without getting the acutal diploma. Seems like a long time. Just wondering how long it usually takes for the official diploma to be distributed.
A: call them......
Q: What do people do with their high school diploma?
I graduated from high school long ago and I was wondering what do people do with their high school diploma? I didn't know why my parents let me keep it. The diploma is in my home. So, what should I do with it?
A: hang it on the wall or put it in a scrap book with your year books and stuff from high school good luck
Q: What is the difference between a high school certificate and a high school diploma?
a friend of mine is trying to get into a college and they're asking for a high school diploma and she is not sure if that's what she has.
A: A High School Diploma signifies that a person met the curriculum (classes) requirement of the state. A High School Certificate just signifies that a person attended school but did not necessarily take the classes necessary by the state to graduate. The Certificate will most likely NOT get you into college. Talk to you High school counselor to find out what your options are.
Your friend can also request her transcripts from her high school. They should say if she graduated or was awarded a certificate of completion.
Q: How do i find out if my sons high school diploma from an online school is legit?
My son got his high school diploma from James Madison HS online. He dropped out of the local high school in the 8th grade and I dont understand how he took a simple test online, sent in 200 dollars and recieved a diploma with a 3.0 gpa. The school claims to be accredited. How is this possible.
A: There is a real online high school called James Madison High School. However, obtaining a high school diploma through them is a lot harder than paying $200 and taking one test. The least expensive option is their 16 course track and I believe that is closer to $2,000. Are you sure he didn't just get a certificate for a single course? If I'm not mistaken, a single course costs $295.
A high school diploma from James Madison High School is a legitimate diploma. JMHS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Q: What is a good way to get a high school diploma from home?
Okay first im a 20yr old 10th grade dropout and need a way to get a high school diploma. A couple of my friends are taking a detailed test through all the subjects and when they pass they r givin a high school diploma. What does it do does it give u the credits u need on ur transcript? Or does it just look like like u were in the 10th grade and took an advancement test and graduated? I was thinking about going through Keystone National High School and get the credits i need but it will cost me $379 a credit. Any ideas on a cheaper method to get the credits i need in the shortest amount of time ?
A: I too are a 10nth grade dropout...theres online schools that are absolutely free. plus you can do it on your free time, whenever you want.
hope this helps you out!
Q: How to convince a 20 year old to finish getting his high school diploma?
My boyfriend is 20 years old and has been home schooled his whole life. Once he got to high school he started working and eventually stopped doing school. I really think he should get his high school diploma and move up in life but he refuses to finish because he thinks high school isn't "justified". How in the world do I convince him that finishing would give him more opportunities and that it's "justifiable"?
A: I think that this is something your boyfriend is going to have to decide for himself. In order for him to take the classes seriously and spend the time needed to graduate, he is going to have to want to be there...not because someone else talked him into going. You could gather some info on what your boyfriend would have to do in order to graduate, give it to him and let him know you support his decision.
Q: How can i earn my high school diploma online?
Im 16 and i just recently started going to junior college while on independent study through my high school. But today my high school dropped me from independent study, so i need to find a way to earn my diploma or a GED if thats my only choice. Id rather get my diploma though.
A: Many well-established universities are beginning to offer online high schools; these schools are probably the best bet since they are tied to credible institutions that have been around for years. A few schools to consider include:
Allied National High School

Online Charter Schools
If your state allows charter schools, you may be able to enroll in an online high school for free. Charter schools are publicly funded but have more freedom from government control than regular public schools. This is one of the best deals out there, since public schools are not allowed to charge tuition and are generally accredited by the proper organization. States such as Minnesota and California have provisions in their state laws that permit students to enroll in charter programs that are paid for by the government. Schools Blue Sky in Minnesota offer students the chance to earn a diploma without paying for classes or materials. Choice2000 in California is completely online, completely free, and completely accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Some schools even provide computer equipment and hands-on materials free of charge.
Q: Do you need a high school diploma to become a licensed massage therapist?
I don't have a high school diploma or GED, and I live in the state of California. Am I still able to get a license for massage therapy with out it?
A: Yes..To go to school, just like College, You will need your HS. Diploma or GED..BUT, In some states, I don't know if this is for California, Because it's for a few states, You can take a test, and enter(if you get a certain score.) without one...Like I said, I don't know if California does this or not.
