Q: Anyone have experience with the King George School in Sutton, Vermont?
I am investigating emotional growth schools for my 16-year old son, who is presently failing high school and hanging out with a troubled group of kids. If anyone has or knows someone who has attended King George, I'd love to know about their experiences. I'd also be interested in knowing more about any other New England emotional growth schools.
A: I would look up local parent support groups and get their opinion. You will get what you are looking for.
Q: How to get to George Mason high school by metro, Falls Church?
How do i get to George Mason High School from East Falls Church Station.
Stop Station and which direction to walk, etc.
I need it
A: From East Falls Church, take the Orange line Metro to West Falls church. That's in the direction of Vienna, for 1 stop. About 4 minutes.
When you emerge from the station, you need to find Haycock Road. It is not always clear, but from the exit (not the bus exit, the parking exit) you will bear right across the parking lot and past a few buildings to get to Haycock. Once there, turn right and head out to Broad Street - where you should find the school. About four tenths of a mile.
Q: Do you think its WEIRD that a BUS driver would make a 10 minute stop at GEORGE WEBBS b4 taking KIDS to school?
My daughter said yesterday her bus driver pulled into George Webbs before school, they waited there for 10 minutes, and then he came out and said they were out of Steak & Eggs.
Am I the only one who thinks this is wrong? Should I say something or is this typical "on the road" behavior and should I not be alarmed?
A: Never heard of George Webbs, but you should report it.
Something bad could've happened to the kids, and, of course, they could've been late.
EDIT: Actually, most (normal) school buses have cameras, so the bus driver will get caught anyways...
Q: What High School Did George Gregan go to?
What high school did Auctralian rugby captin
George Gregan go to?
A: St Edmunds College, Canberra. Good ol Georgey! :)
Peace
-Go Wallabies!
Q: Do you think since Senator McCain and George Bush did poorly in school academics, Should McCain be President?
George and McCain did poorly in school. Palin attended five colleges before graduating with a degree in journalism. We see now what lack of understanding and poor judgment can lead to. The United States is a joke to my Canadian friends. McCain would be the same and we need a fresh look, and someone who knows how to be patient and to research before acting.
A: See this is what I mean about other countries views of the U.S. I went to the Olympics and every time Bush was on T.V. people would laugh at him like he's a joke. I have no idea how the republicans back such people like Bush, McCain, Palin and then tell their kids education is important.
You neo-cons can put as many thumbs down as you want, but if you vote for McCain and Palin you don't care one bit about education.
Q: Is George Mason University a school you would look down on?
Honestly, what is your opinion of the university as a whole? I'm thinking of turning down University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, VCU, and VTech to come here. GMU is the only school I know of in the state that offers Neuroscience as a Bachelor's degree, but I've heard a lot of bad things about it being a substandard institution. I also want to go to med or grad school and I'm worried this will affect the schools I get accepted to.
A: George Mason is a good school. It has people's respect.
Q: What time does St George Girls High School start and end?
A: if its a det school they should all have a website and that information should be on there.
8.40-3pm is pretty standard.
Q: Should I go to law school at George Washington on a full ride, Georgetown, or University of Virginia?
I've been accepted to all three, but only received merit based aid from George Washington. I'm not quite sure what area of law I will be going into or where I'll want to practice. Right now, I am thinking of working at a big law firm in either New York or D.C. I would also like to keep my options open for going into academia in the future.
A: Deciding a law school based on price is penny wise and pound foolish. Going to a law school with a better reputation will help you find better jobs, with better salaries. In general, your added earnings will more than make up for any extra you had to pay for the degree.
I say in general, because there are exceptions:
* If you already have a connection at a major law firm that assures you a job there
* The top students from the lower schools will get the same great jobs BUT it is foolish to gamble your career by assuming you will be one - it is often random
That being said, these are three very good law schools with very solid reputations. UVA and Georgetown are in what's called the "T14" - an elite group of schools which have consistently ranked among the top 14 in the US News Ranking. Many of their graduates have great employment prospects. That being said, GW is not too far behind (but if I were in your shoes I would take every advantage I could get)
And these are just the financial considerations - there obviously might be other reasons to pick between them. Georgetown's large size, top-rated clinical program, alternative "Curriculum B" and diversity of classes make it an attractive choice. Plus you have more access to DC politics and SCOTUS - the litigators practice their oral arguments right on campus
Georgetown would be my pick, based on where you want to practice. Its alumni network is spread into NYC better than UVA or GW. Both it and UVA's reputation for academia is good - I think that ambition would rule out GW. You will need a clerkship to get into law teaching, so pay careful attention to clerkship data!
(UVA seems to have the edge here based on the links below)
I suggest buying the US News Rankings. take them with the requisite grain of salt, but consider the strengths of each program and the more in-depth information it contains about career prospects.
Q: Admission to George Mason Law School? Advantages?
I'm interested in going to law school after graduating high school this year, and I'm planning on applying to George Mason, and I was wondering if going to George Mason makes it harder or easier to get admitted into their law school. In high school I have a 3.8 GPA and a 2050 on the SAT, and in college I will have a GPA of at the very least a 3.7. Any advice?
A: You question is confusing.
Firstly you say that you are going to apply to law school after graduating from high school this year and then you say that you will have a college GPA of 3.7.
To answer your question. If you are only just about to graduate from high school and have not earned a Bachelor's Degree then you are not eligible to apply to law school. Since a Bachelor's degree, a min GPA, LSAT scores, resume and letters of recommendation are all required and you will have none of the above.
Finally, if you have not yet attended college, then I would not make any assumptions on what your final GPA is going to be, that point in time is many years away and I have seen more than a handful of bright students not succeed to their fullest potential in university.
Q: Is it wrong to tell my elementary school class that George W. Bush murdered Santa Claus?
I am a teacher at the Wansumpoon Indian School on the Lykiwannalikit Indian Reservation in Idaho, and I've been telling my class this for the last couple of years. I know it's not true, and a lot of the kids go home crying and whining, but I think it serves a greater purpose by instilling in their minds the idea that President Bush is evil.
A: Why would you lie to school children? Yes, it's wrong. If you have to make a political point, why not just tell them the truth about what's going on in the world and skew it to fit your views? Or better yet, tell them the truth and let them think for themselves? Why on Earth would you lie to children about Santa?
Besides, do Indian children have that strong a belief in Santa to begin with? I thought Santa was an icon derived from western religion and wouldn't be a big figure in Indian life?
If you're a licensed teacher, I hope your administration doesn't find out. That kind of crap could get you fired, no?
Q: Why is the book 1984 by george orwell no longer read in the school systems?
Although famous literature that was read years ago in school is still read today, how come 1984 is no longer allowed in the curriculum? Has anybody read this book, or farm animals? What is your opinion?
I requested 1984 in my sophmore english class and the teacher told me the school system wouldn't allow it.
A: Orwell's works often fall in and out of political fashion. Many of his peers on the political left originally castigated him for publishing "1984" and especially "Animal Farm" (both of which are blistering and thinly veiled critiques of the Soviet Union's slide into brutal totalitarianism) primarily because they thought he was betraying their communist sympathies and either didn't want to believe, or willfully ignored the fact that their ideology was causing one of the greatest catastrophes ever committed against humanity.
And while he was no fan of unfettered capitalism (he was a socialist for awhile), he stood by his convictions and history has unequivocally vindicated him.
However, this has never sat quite well with with certain intellectuals who still to this day espouse marxist ideals (many of whom instruct and influence young teachers and administrators who select the reading lists and curriculums in our schools). Thus the reluctance of some of them to include him as required reading.
Not to fear, though; the power of his writing, and the prescience of his message will resonate as long as their are governments and leaders more intent on oppressing their own people than providing sound leadership. His detractors are well aware that to ban him outright would be considered, in a word, Orwellian.
Q: Does george washington carver school for the sciences observe a uniform dress code?
A: i don't know, i am going there next year and i am scared. r u going to the one in queens? i am =(
Q: Prince George county School Vrs Howard County Schools Whats better?
I spent a year in Prince George county schools and it was no picnic....
Is Howard county schools any better if so on a scale 1-10 what would you rate it?
A: My husband is from Howard County.
He is now a Marine, and it is odd, because a lot of people he meets are from Howard County. He did very well. He did go to private school the last 2 years, but he liked it.
He said its a 7....
Good Luck
Q: I went to school with george formans granddaughter and I know they live somewhere in kingwood texas?
I went to a private school with one of george formans grand daughter and we were good friends but we lost contact I know they live in kingwood texas does anyone know the neighborhood?
A: No, but you might want to give zabasearch.com a try. Put in her first/last name and kingwood, tx and search. You'll be amazed what it pulls up. I've used it to find old friends a few times with great success.
