Q: What are the differences of College, School or Institute?
I am just wondering about the difference between a college, a school, or an institute. In a University, there could be a college, say College of Computer Studies. While in others, instead of such they have School of Computer Studies. While some, Institute of Computer Studies. Are they all the same? Or do they have distinctions why they are called differently?
Please do enlighten me.
Thanks.
A: Colleges and Schools are essentially the same type of thing, except there might be slight differences in how they are administered (whether the person at the top actually is called a "Dean" for example). Within a college or school there will be departments. An Institute is sometimes slightly different. An institute can be a research entity that does not contain departments but may have research professors only, and other professors from surrounding departments may participate in the institute.

Q: How does high school/ college affect life after education?
My parents and school are really bugging me about my grades, and I know a lot of my peers are having the same issues. However, I've heard that just graduating high school is an achievement. A lot of adults are making it seem that if I don't get all a's and b's and get into an Ivy league college that my life is going to suck. Can someone please tell the plain truth?
A: Actually in reality their are some adults achieve in life without graduating HS but their children goes to school , because they don't want their child to experience what they have experience ,lacking education . They do it in a very hard way. having education is a guide for you to not fail more in life and to avoid hardships in the future.
Q: How do I get back into Canada to study at school/college?
I attended secondary school in Ontario last year but due to unforseen family problems had to leave before I completed my grade 12. I would love to come back to Canada and complete my GED at college. I am 17 and would like to know how I go about doing this? Can anyone help?
A: I do not understand completely. You left Canada, or you just left the school?
If you are in another county then you will probably need to request a student visa. Contact your school and see if they can help you. Perhaps they can give you the info that you need. I would at least start there and see if they will even allow you to come back.
Q: What are my chances to play high school, college golf?
What are my chances to play high school, college golf?
I am 14 years old, Freshman in high school. I practice on the range every day for 4-5 hours with 1 hour of short game/bunker practice. Also another hour for putting. My handicap is a 12 right now. The handicap should go down because I am planning on getting a few lessons. My golf clubs are Taylormade, Callaway, and Odyssey and top of the line, custom fitted. I practice alot and am playing way better and consistantly. My only down side is I'm pretty small and can only drive about 225-235 yards. I started lifting weights however so I should get stronger. I also am going to us the Momentus Power Hitter to build up my clubhead speed. I go to De La Salle High School in California. Their Varsity golf team won the state championship last year but I'm only trying for J.V. or Freshman.
Oh yeah, I've only been playing for 8 months.
Hey rl_ex06, I am doing well in school to.
I am in 3 honors classes and my Gpa is 3.96
A: from one high school golfer to another... the only way to get better is to practice.. period. however, golf is rather frustating.. im sure u can attest. keep practicing but if u get so frustrated or pissed.. take a break for a couple days. also, if u show the coach u have good work ethic hes that much more likely to pick you. never be satisified... work to get better. dont worry about your size..just work extra hard at the short game.. thats where u can really take it to those fools who hit it 300+. HAVE CONFIDENCE AND KEEP PRACTICING!

Q: How is college compared to high school for you?
High school & college is sooo different! how do you feel about it, and what are some major differences between the two?.. negatives and positives.
A: High school is more about cultural socialization. (Not socializing.. but socialization - a part of human development) College is about learning. There is no one supervising the students. You're on your own. You choose to learn or you don't choose to learn. No one will bawl you out for not showing up to class. You will just fail and no one particularly cares
In other words, college is for adults. High school is for kids.
Q: How many hours a day did you study when you wee at school/ college?

Q: Is there anyway to get your college/ medical school paid for if you are dedicated to a specific cause?
I've always wanted to be a Doctor so that I can work on humanitarian causes, but paying for college is becoming a problem and I'd never be able to dedicate the time I want with all the debt I'll have after college/ medical school. I know that being an American, Im already lucky. I just want to make a difference and feel like I'm doing something special and important with my life. This has been my dream since I was a little girl.
A: You may want to investigate the National Health Services Corps (which focuses on bringing doctors to underserved communities), which seems to be in line with your ambitions. Alternatively, if you are interest in research as well as practicing medicine, there are number of MD/PhD programs that have a certain number of slots for which they offer free tuition and a stipend. Not all such programs offer these benefits and they are quite competitive. Good luck in pursuing your goals. (I have a daughter who shares your ambition and currently is applying to medical schools.)
Q: What was your starting salary after you finished college or graduate school?
like what was the field you were in, and how much did you make straight out of college/graduate school with your degree?
A: I will tell you about my daughter.
5 years ago $49K with degree in Finance (BS).
This year she signed for a job for $87K with MBA degree.
