Q: Nursing and Pediatric Nursing colleges?
what are some good Nursing and Pediatric Nursing colleges? i was planning in getting a degree in Nursing, then specializing in Pediatric Nursing. I live on the East coast, and was wondering what were some good colleges? thanks!

A: There are no dedicated pediatric nursing colleges--you do a general nursing program and specialize with on the job training when you are done. Many nursing schools are adequate--very few jobs will not hire someone based upon where they went to school as long as they are competent & pass the NCLEX. So look into schools in the area you want for the price you want to pay. There are community colleges as well as universities....its an open field. For peds in general, you will do better getting a job at a dedicated pediatric hospital--so you might want to look for a job close by such a hospital (such as DuPont Childrens in Delaware; etc). Good luck

I have some experience in the nursing field. I am a CNA at my local hospital. I do not have my RN. I was just wondering if there any colleges online that offer courses for people without their RN degree.

A: I don't know of any. I'm going to school now to get an associates in nursing. There is a lot of clinical time involved at the hospital and a few hours of lab time a week. Once you get your associates you can get your bachelors online. I have found a few programs like Penn State.

Q: Can I apply for a Nursing program at different colleges?
I just finished up all my pre reqs for the Nursing Program at a local community college in Detroit Mi. I heard that there is a waiting list at the college I attend. I was wondering If I could apply to more than 1 Nursing Program besides where i'm at?

A: Yes you can. Many people do this to increase their chances of getting into a program. Just check out nearby schools and look at their prereq's because they may or may not have other prerequisites you need to take. Since Nurses are in high demand, you may run into waiting lists anywhere you go, so appplying to different programs is definitely a good idea.

Q: Why is there a waiting list for nursing programs at colleges, but a nursing shortage?
I want to be a nurse very badly. I have all my classes done, and I applied to the nursing program. Now they tell me there is a waiting list. How can there be a nursing shortage if I can't even get into the schools?

A: Your running into what most of the students that I am taking classes are experiencing. The reason- most of your instructors can earn more money working in the field. The schools are having a hard time getting instructors to come and teach, while the schools are also trying to keep the instructors that they have. With class sizes needing to remain controllable and the overflow of applications, the competition is fierce. You also have to look at the facilities that are available to hold the classes. No space = no additional classes. It is like this in other programs as well. The available spots in the rad-tech and dental hygiene programs by me are far and few between. I will be applying this spring for a spot in the dental hygiene program. My grades are good and my test score were great, but I know that there is still that possibility that I will not get in. We don't have the waiting lists here anymore- you are in or you are not. If you don't get accepted, you must reapply. I have heard that if you transfer to a four year program at a college/university the competition is not as hard to get in, but then you are going for a BSN. From what I have been told there really isn't much difference bewteen the RN vs. the BSN because the on the job experience is such a big factor. To some places the additional two years of work expierience means more than the bachelor's degree. If you don't have a problem with a four year program, then I would check into a college program. Good Luck.

Q: how many nursing colleges in manila?
ok...how many nursing colleges r ther in manila? and how do i search for a particular person in tht? can i access records online?

A: there are PLENTY of colleges in Metro Manila alone, and since nursing is one of the famous college courses in the Philippines, almost all colleges are offering it! So your problem/query is really difficult. And no you cannot access the records online, no school has ever done this before, not only for its privacy but mainly because this is a very tedious process to do.
