Q: Does a Kansas college degree look credible for jobs in other states?
I am planning on attending Kansas State University and getting my degree in veterinary medicine. I want to get it here mostly because it is cheaper to attend this school as I am a resident of Kansas, but I do not want to stay in Kansas after receiving my degree. What I would like to know is if a degree from a school in Kansas will look credible to future employers in other states (people often think those of us in Kansas aren't the brightest...)?
A: Given the choice of picking a vet from Kansas or one from New York City, I'm picking the one from Kansas. ;-) [it's a joke - don't flame me]
Honestly, it doesn't make all that much difference unless you're talking about the difference between an Ivy and a tier 4. Everything in the middle is considered about equal - you either have a DVM or you don't and few people ever will really care where you went to school.
Q: Can anyone tell me about the University of Kansas college scene?
I've applied and visited KU but I have not been on campus while school was in session or checked out the nightlife. How is it?
A: Lawrence KS explodes when school is in session! Downtown Lawrence (Mass(achusettes) Street) has all kinds of bars (all non-smoking now i think). The night life is very enjoyable. Lawrence is probably the most diverse city i have ever been in, so if you don't find what you are looking for, you aren't looking that hard.
Q: What is a good college around Kansas that has degrees in Accounting?
I live in Kansas and I am hoping to stay around here and I was wondering if anybody knew any good colleges with Accounting degrees or any websites that I can look up different degrees provided by different colleges.
A: www.ashworthuniversity.com
This college has account degree/s and programs available that you can enroll in. You can either pay for tuition in full or in monthly affordable payments. I'm attending this school and I like it a lot and the staff are nice.
Q: How do you vote out of precinct if you're off to college (in Kansas)?
I'm going to be away to college within the same state, Kansas, which is where I live, but I won't be able to vote in my 'home' precinct, aka my home address area. How do I vote (at college) or some other way this fall for President, and other elections?
A: Contact or visit you local board of elections for an absentee ballot. You can print this out online.
Q: Why do peole have a problem with NFL team NE blowing teams out but not college team Kansas blowing teams out?
Both New England and Kansas are undefeated this year yet only New England has gotten a lot of grief for scoring many points in their games.
Meanwhile. Kansas has won by 35,42,48,52, and 62 points!
They have aslo scored 76 points in one game and yet there has not been one complaint about them running up the score all year.
A: Because college has the flawed system know as the BCS. College teams need to beat the spread to prove they are not overrated. And in college there is such a huge diversity of talent between teams so in some games the spread can be as large as 41.
Q: Where would I go to find the requirements to be certified to teach in Missouri if I go to college in Kansas?
I want to be able to graduate in Kansas, but come and teach in Missouri. Who should I talk to and where should I go to find some information on the requirements?
A: Here is a website about what you need to know about out-of-state licensing for Missouri. I would get a teaching license in Kansas if it's required to have one in Missouri.

Q: What can visiting college students do for fun in Kansas City?
I'm visiting Kansas City from Oct. 28-31 with a group of 7 students from Florida for a college newspaper conference. We've never been there and would like to go out while we're there. Are bars and clubs all 21-and-up in KC? Only about half of us are over 21.
A: Kansas City has a number of great haunted houses in the fall that are worth looking into. You'll notice several people have already mentioned Worlds of Fun, an area theme park. There's also the numerous shopping areas such as the Country Club Plaza in KCMO and Legends in KCK near the race track.
You might want to keep tabs on some of the community calendars as your trip nears - both the KC Star (main stream newspaper) and the Pitch (alternative free press paper) have them on their websites - see sources below.
Yes, most of the bars are 21 and over, though some do all-ages shows (or at least 18 and up) from time to time.
Q: What can visiting college students do for fun in the evening in Kansas City Missouri?
Im traveling to Kansas City MO with a group of 8 students for a college newspaper convention at the Marriott Downtown Kansas City from Oct. 29-31. What can we do for fun when we're done with the day's convention stuff. Are all the bars 21-and-up? Only about half of us are 21.
A: -Well i hear that the Power and Light District is hot.
(I hear, I'm not exactly old enough to enjoy most of these attractions)

-The American Royal Livestock Show is Oct. 28-Nov. 1
(although I do not condone this treatment of animals)
-There are a lot of sick Haunted Houses

-If I'm not mistaken, on Halloween night you can get a free Chipotle Burrito if you dress in aluminum foil, its definitely worth the long lines, I had lots of fun with my friends last year.

-Check out the city market

-Walk around the Plaza, there a tons of cool shops, and great restaurants. (some are a little pricey) might I suggest Winsteads, get a sky scrapper soda or shake :)
Q: What can visiting college students do for fun at night in Kansas City Missouri? ?
Im going to Kansas City MO with a group of 8 students for a college newspaper convention at the Marriott Downtown Kansas City from Oct. 29-31. What can we do for fun when we're done with the day's convention stuff. (5 p.m.- ) Are all the bars 21-and-up? Only about half of us are 21.
A: Pretty much all of the traditional bars will be 21+. However there are a handful of restaurants/bars where they should be able to get in at.
Check out some of the places on the Plaza (Tom Fooleries is a good time) as well as the Power & Light district. The Westport area also has some good nightlife as well.

Since you're there during the Halloween time frame, can I suggest checking out some of the Haunted Houses downtown? I've been to a handful of them and frankly, some of the ones in KC has scared the crap outta me. Check out The Beast or The Edge Of Hell. You'd likely have to wait in line, but it's totally worth it. Have a few drinks before you go, too.

Q: What do you know about Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas?
I graduated from their in May and I am just curious how many people know about it and what they think.
A: I know it exists, thats about it.
Q: Wil College Game Day be in Kansas City on November 29?
Im Going to the Mizzou vs. Kansas game on November 29.
And i would like to know if College game day will be there.
A: No...last year was different since both KU and Mizzou were in the top 5...not this time around since we have Alabama-Auburn and Oklahoma-Oklahoma State that weekend. Most likely Game Day will see Roll Tide vs. War Eagle
Q: Kansas State University College Credit Hours?
For KSU, how many college credit hours do you need before you will be considered a sophomore?
A: There is no set number. It depends on the program you are involved in. But K-State's average hour load is 14 hours. So often times, you can walk in to college as a "sophomore". Now there is a few things that might hold you back right away from "skipping freshman year"
Sometimes you have to take freshman classes, that were not offered in high school and can't be doubled up in one year. Like if you go into business, it may be like classes that build on management skills - much like math classes do. (The example is that you can't take Pre-Calc and Calc at the same time since they build off each other. Sorry, if that doesn't make sense.) So be prepared, for the possibility that you may not be able to jump into the level of a sophomore right away. Make sense?
So sometimes you may not be counted as a "sophomore" in the K-
State's eyes until you com plate these beginner courses.
But I have included two links. One is the B.S. page for business and one for tution. (Tution posted on the website is for an average (14 hr.) year but remember tution is really priced per credit hour ($198 per hr.))
Hope I cleared some stuff up. If not, feel free to get ahold of me.
Q: How good will Kansas State be next year in college basketball?
We know that K-State will be unbelievebly good next year with all their talented recruits and returning players. Michael Beasly and Bill Walker rank at #1 and #6 by rivals. K-State will also most likely have all their best players returning (excluding the seniors) which is already a very talented bunch which is having alot of recent sucess. And also with one of the best and most succesful coaches Bob Huggins. But how good will they be.
A: Umm...I'm guessing they will be making a sweet sixteen appearance next year...yes they lose cartier after this year, but like you said they are getting beasley and walker will be back from his acl tear, i think bennett will be more of an offensive threat next year and even better on defense, hoskins is going to step up his game even farther and be second in the Big XII in scoring (behind durant)...if huggins keeps them playing defense like they are now, they are gonna be amazing next year
Q: What is a college in Kansas City, Kansas that has Men's volleyball?

Q: How do I decide which college to go to? University of Kansas or University of South Carolina?
I live in Chicago, but my dad went to school in South Carolina, so we go on vacation there every summer (since I was born). It feels like a second home to me even though it is so different than Chicago/ the Midwest. I visited it over the summer, and FELL IN LOVE!!
The university of kansas is a great school, and is closer to home. It is also very pretty, and offers some of the same southern charm as USC.
I am really leaning towards USC but I don't know!!
Please help!!
A: What do you want to study, major in? Any idea where your passion is pulling you to? This is probably the most important factor to weigh in, what school will offer you the academic curriculum you want. Class size, professors, proximity to home (transportation costs to and from home), tuition costs, university size, financial aid? If you're in love with South Carolina, then go w/the love.
