Q: What are some colleges known for their drama/theatre programs?
What are some colleges that are known for having great drama programs. Colleges that have had many successful actors. Also, what does it take to get into these college's programs.

A: Yale has a wonderful Drama Program. So does Northwestern. In order to get into programs like this you need excellent grades, participation in your High School and community theatre productions and great recommendations. You could also go the route of a "Professional" school like Julliard or American Academy of Dramatic Arts...they also want good grades, experience and also require you to audtion for them. Good luck!!!!!

Q: What colleges and college programs will except students with GEDs.?
I have looked throught the typical school programs for people with GEDs and its nothing i want to do. so i need help from people who arent my father, the asshole, to help me find a good school with a program in it i might enjoy. this is my life we are talking about... let me know if you have any ideas for me.

A: A lot of Junoir Colleges will take people with GEDs. Generally speaking Junoir Colleges don't require ACT or SAT exams though there are exceptions to that rule. Most likely since you didn't graduate from high school you would have to take a number of placement tests before enrolling in most cases to check your math, science, English compentency levels since you wouldn't have met those requirements when graduating high school Unfortunately, most Universities require a High School Diploma (or a fair amount of transferable college credit). So you may have to start at a Junoir or Community College even if it isn't what you envisioned. The good thing is if you do well in Junoir College you can then transfer to a University or somewhere else down the line.

Q: What are the problems with early action programs for colleges and universities?
Colleges and universities are beginning to end early admissions in general. Early actions, I believe are non-binding (early decision are binding), so why then are these programs a problem?

A: The only problem I see with it is whether the applicant can successfully put together an application earlier rather than later. A non-binding early action program is otherwise a good idea to take advantage of, because it offers a slightly better chance of getting admitted-- and even if you don't get admitted early, your application can still get deferred and considered for regular admission.

Q: What some colleges with really good equine studies programs?
I live in California. I would really like to eventually own my own/run stables (as a long term goal) but I'm also really interested in becoming a horse trainer and riding instructor. I'm finding colleges with these programs but i don't know which are the really good ones. They don't have to be 4 years schools ( i would prefer if the were for my parent's expectations)(they aren't to keen on the idea to start with).

A: The best: UC Davis and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Good luck.

Q: Is there a website that will show me all the abroad programs that colleges have?
Is there a website that will show me all the abroad programs that colleges have? Either by colleges in states, or by city?

A: It would be best to go to each Universities website and find their study abroad page for information on their programs. You can check out different Spanish Immersion programs at: http://www.spanishabroad.com/ or if you are interested in other languages like French, Italian, German, etc. you can go to: http://www.a2zlanguages.com/

Q: what colleges offer psychiatry programs that lessen school years?
A lot of colleges have specific programs that lessen the amount of years you need in order to become whatever you want. Like st. Johns in queens, new York, has a phrmany program of 6 years and after you graduate all you have to do is residency. Is there anything like that for psychiatry? I'm in high school and I know wanna become a pschiatrist, but 11 years is way too much, any help or advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

A: You have to go to medical school to become a psychiatrist. You would need to go to undergraduate, then 4 years of medical school, then 4 years of internship/residency in your specialization (psychiatry). There is no "easy way" to be a Psychiatrist. You are diagnosing psychiatric disorders and prescribing medicine. If you are not prepared to dedicate the time for it, then choose another career. If you only want to counsel people and not prescribe medicine, then there are counseling programs that take 2 years after undergrad (6 years total) or become a psychologist that typically take 5 years after undergrad (9 years total).

Q: Can any of you suggest colleges with graduate programs in biology?
I'm looking for suggestions of colleges or universities with graduate degree programs in ethology, vertebrate zoology, animal behavior, or behavioral ecology. Schools can be in or outside of the United States. Thanks!

A: I attended Tennessee Technological University and majored in Biology... They have an excellent Grad program...

Q: What colleges have the best programs to get a BFA in Musical Theatre?
I'm looking into colleges presently. I want to major in Musical Theatre, preferably with a BFA. Not just Drama or Dance or Voice, but specifically Musical Theatre. What colleges have good Musical Theatre Programs? And does anyone know about the quality of the UArts in Philadelphia Musical Theatre program?

A: Two in my region are Oklahoma City University, and the University of Oklahoma. I understand that Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh has a nice program. It is not all that common a major, actually. Be careful of places that say they have a "Musical Theatre" major that is actually just a degree in music or theatre with some courses in the other. Musical theatre is a highly specialized art form, and requires special training.

Q: What colleges have programs to become a nutritionist?
Are there any major universities in the US that have nutritionist programs? Anybody know what the best schools to study at are?

A: Yes, here's a full list: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/majors/brief/major_30-19_brief.php Best colleges out of those would be Cornell, McGill (Canada), Tulane, UC Berkeley, U Wisconsin Madison, and U Michigan Ann Arbor

I'm interested in fashion and eventually want to have my own line and open up my own boutique, but I don't want to go to fashion school. My parents won't pay for it and I want the traditional college experience. Are there any GOOD (big emphasis on that because academically I'm doing pretty well) colleges/universities that have fashion majors and programs?

Q: What colleges offer online certificate programs?
I know Notre Dame does, but you have to be 22 to enroll in their certificate programs. Do any other notable colleges offer this? Any subject is fine.

A: depends what country you are in. All the leading universities in Australia are now on-line and offer full degree study in a huge range of courses on line.

Q: colleges with honors programs & good financial aid?
I'm not really into the big "state schools" that seem to be the most obvious choice for scholarships and honors colleges / programs. Does anyone know of any decent, smaller schools that offer honors and good financial aid?

A: well i have a friend going to duke, and his family has 3 kids in college and he is only paying 21000 instead of 40000. private schools have the money, and if you are in need, they will help you.

Q: What colleges offer the best medical programs?
I want to be a pediatrician, but I need to know what colleges offer the best programs under that major.

A: Pediatrics is not a major. It's not offered at any college. You need to complete medical school prerequisites, take the MCAT, and apply for medical school. After 4 years of med school, then you apply for pediatric residency which is another 3 years.

Q: Are there any colleges with good foreign language programs?
Besides Middlebury (in which I'd like to go to but I don't think I can), are there any other colleges that have good programs for majors in Spanish and French. I'm currently a sophomore in high school and my passion is language. I would like to be an interpreter or possibly a teacher. I still have not decided.

A: St. Andrews would be an excellent choice..
