Q: How are the colleges in Texas, compared to other areas?
It seems like all the "good" colleges are up in New York, Maryland, California, etc. Do colleges like Texas Tech and Texas A&M have good reputations? I know they aren't BAD schools but I don't know if they're that great.

A: ewww I think I just throwed up a little bit

Q: Can anyone help to find colleges in texas for pre-medicine?
Can anyone help to find colleges in texas for pre-medicine

A: The best choice in Texas would be Rice. Trinity University in Texas is also a very good school for pre-med. Southwestern University is another school to look at. Also, Southern Methodist U. Rice has a 96% admission rate to med school and incredible MCAT averages. Rice/Baylor is the top ranked combined program, but also probably the toughest to get into. With only 15 admitted per year it consists largely of students who declined offers from Harvard, Yale, Duke, etc.

Q: Texas Colleges - Can I submit a scholarship application after the deadline?
Okay, so for University of Texas, I was wondering ... the deadline for the scholarship application is tomorrow, but I don't have all of my essays written yet. Can it be submitted later than the deadline date, and be considered last, or does it automatically close and no longer allow entries? Thanks for your help.

A: If that doesn't work out and you still need a scholarship check my source. A lot of people have found success with it. There are many scholarship opportunities out there that you may be eligible for you will be surprised. My advice to you is to apply for more than one scholarship, and use more than one scholarship search. Good Luck. I went to college for free, so can you. http://www.ratemycollegefootballexperience.com/academics.html

Q: what are some equine colleges in Texas?
I really want to become an equine veterinarian but i would like to know how many years it takes to become an equine vet. I want to go to a college in Texas so do ya'll have any ideas.

A: If you want to become a vet and want to attend college in Texas, then Texas A&M University is where you want to go. There are only 32 vet schools in the US. These are the vet schools: Auburn University Colorado State University Cornell University Iowa State University Kansas State University Louisiana State University Michigan State University Mississippi State University North Carolina State University Ohio State University Oklahoma State University Oregon State University Purdue University Texas A&M University Tufts University Tuskegee University University of California, Davis University of Florida University of Georgia University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign University of Minnesota University of Missouri University of Pennsylvania University of Tennessee University of Wisconsin-Madison Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine Washington State University Western University of Health Sciences To get a vet degree, you first have to get your bachelor's degree. At Texas A&M, you would major in Animal Science with the Equine Science discipline. You would also have to take the "pre-professional" track classes, which are the classes you need to meet the admission requirements for the vet school. These include classes like physics, biochemistry, embryology, vertebrate and invertebrate zoology, and so forth. You would also need to take classes within the Animal Science department that cover other species of livestock. This is because if/when you do get to vet school, you have to study all species that a vet has to work on-- dogs and cats, cattle and sheep, birds, horses, and other more exotic animals. It is also worth mentioning that when you go to vet school, you will as a part of the curiculum take part in experiments and demonstrations that result in the euthanization of the animal that they are performed on. I know that when I went to Texas A&M in the 70's, they used unclaimed animal shelter animals for this; they might have a dog colony that is bred for this purpose now. You ask how many years it takes to become a vet: typically, you have to get your Bachelor's degree before you apply; you can apply after three years of undergrad work if you've completed the requirements for admission, but it's pretty tough to do that in three years. If you are not accepted the first time you apply to vet school, and many people are not, generally you will pursue a Master's Degree in some related discipline to improve your chances of admission. That's a two-year program. Vet school is a four-year program, so you might spend as much as 10 years in college before you graduate with a vet degree. It is also possible that if you do not do as well in school as other applicants, that you could go through your BS and MS degrees and not be accepted to the vet school. This is the website for Texas A&M University's Department of Animal Science: http://animalscience.tamu.edu/index.html This is the website for the Association of American Veterinary Colleges (AAVMC): http://www.aavmc.org/ On this page, http://www.aavmc.org/vmcas/vmcas.htm, if you go through the menus for "Applying to Veterinary School" on the left, you will find FAQ's and other information about what is involved in applying to vet school. I assume you are still in high school. If you are, you need to take every science class you can and pull as close to an "A" average as you can manage. When you get to A&M and start your classes, again you will be taking some tough pre-professional science courses, in which your grades are important for your chances of getting into vet school. Good luck!

Q: Are colleges in Texas cheaper than in California?
I'm a Sophmore in Highschool, and I'm still thinking about where to go. I live in California, but I like Texas. Which is better to go to for college?

A: I used to live in Cali and I probably should have went to school there since the University of California system had zero tuition! I mean, you still have expenses, but it's a great deal for residents to take advantage of. Plus, the University of California system (like UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, etc) rank at a decent level. I'm not sure how many do in Texas. I'm in Texas right now actually, just visiting. I guess it depends on where you want to go. The University of Texas in San Antonio is supposed to be good I think. The cost of living here in Houston is pretty cheap compared to most places, I know that. But definitely stay in CA until you graduate. Texas's secondary school system is not all that great....or so I've heard. And since you would be a non-resident after graduating in CA, the cost would go up anyway. Maybe stick with CA....

Q: Are there any colleges in Texas where I could major in Theatre?
Preferably in north Texas but I can handle anything in the south as well. I still have at least 3 years to look though so no hurry. But I'll post this question every month.

A: Just about every major university in TX has a Theater Dept. UT, U of H, A & M, North Texas, Sam Houston, Texas Tech, Baylor, Lamar, almost all of the UT's and A & M's. Even most of the smaller colleges have Theater as a major. All of the small private liberal arts schools like Southwestern, St. Edward's, Austin College, etc. Theater is the type of major that most universities will have.

I want to go to either UTSA or UTA. But I don't know if they offer it. Thanks

Q: What do you think about the new "Six drop classes policy" that was addopted for all the colleges in texas?
This policy allows you to only drop Six classes trough all your college career, and no more. Do you agree with it or not and why or why not?

A: i agree with it. Dropping classes are not good and depending on what time in the semester or quarter its a waste of money and affects the GPA. In my opinion if a student is really focused and determined to graduate why would they need to drop classes at all. I also feel that it should be lower than 6 classes for the whole college career.

how much does a neonatel nurse make an hour? do i have to go to regular college and then medical school or do i jump right into schooling for becoming a neonatal nurse?

A: You should start your research here: http://www.texasnurses.org/ How you pursue your nursing license is up to you and your long term goals. You can attend a nursing program at community colleges or universities, but most attend free standing nursing schools. As far as becoming a neonatal nurse, that is training you will receive on the job, for thed most part.
