Q: What are the popular colleges in California?
I currently live in Washington and am a sophomore, almost a junior in high school, and have a 3.9 GPA and take AP classes. I have always dreamed to live and study in California. What are the more popular colleges in California that you would recomend?
A: UCLA
UCSD

The Claremont-McKenna Colleges (Scripps, Pomona, Claremont)
Pepperdine
Q: Whats a good way to meet people in diffrent colleges in california?
Im currently attending a junior college and would like to find people that go to real colleges around California so could stay with them and hopefully 1. Have a fun weekend with some partying and 2. Get a look at campus life. I dont want to have to pay for a hotel plus it would be nice to see real campus life there. What is a good way to meet people to do this preferably over the internet? Maybe a forum but if so which forum?
A: alcoholics anonymous.
Q: What are all the UC and private colleges in California that offer a RN Program?
What are all the UC and private colleges in California that offer a RN Program?
I'm looking for a wide variety of colleges so i can decide which to attend. It doesn't really matter where they are, as long as their in California
A: If you're looking for a wider variety, you should include Cal States in your search as well.
I would suggest you refine your search, like the other answerer suggested, because then you'll just be left with a list of about 40 schools to choose from.
Q: Are there any online colleges in California?
I am really wondering if there are any online California colleges that I can study at to complete my general academics and obtain my A.S. that I may continue furthering my education at UC Davis in Sacramento, CA once completed.
A: check out http://www.class-connect.com. my school uses them and its awesome...maybe get your high school to sign on with them or something?
Q: Is there a way to avoid paying non-resident fees for California colleges?
I have a friend who lives in another state and wants to go to college here in California. The non-resident fees are very expensive though. Is there a way to avoid them?
Thanks!
Is it possible to use a California address when applying? Don't they have a way to check on that though? Like a credit card or something?
A: Students who come to California can establish residency in one year.
Your friend could move to California before applying (or, if he is unscrupulous could use a California address when applying).
Q: What are the best colleges in California?
I wanna study journalism or psychology in California but what are the best colleges? (not very expensive!)
A: Yourquestion is confused. There are no cheap best colleges in CA or in most places. Do you want to be a journalist or study journalism--2 different things, most of the best colleges don't offer journalism but it certainly doesn't stop their grads from becoming journalists.
The best colleges in CA are:
Stanford
Pomona
Berkeley
Harvey Mudd
Claremont McKenna
UCLA
USC
Q: California colleges in the prettiest areas?
Essentially I am trying to find a college with an all around wonderful package. For example, UOP has an absolutely gorgeous campus, but resides in the ****hole Stockton. What colleges in California are fun, beautiful, and reside in a fun and beautiful location.
A: Someone has already mentioned Pepperdine, which is near Malibu. I agree that this school is in a beautiful location, but I don't believe that it comes with an "all around wonderful package." But if you're really religious (a Catholic/Christian), and want to major in business, then that's the way to go. Just remember it's really conjested there, and pretty far from where most people live. It's also an expensive school since it's a private institution, such as USC (which also has a nice campus).
The most compliments that I've heard of being a really "pretty place," is UC Santa Barabara. I hear such good things about the campus and the area/environment.
Someone has also mentioned UCLA. And even though I think that it's a great school, I think it's in a crappy area, which is unsafe. And many people agree with me on this.
Cal State Long Beach has a really lovely campus. Many people complian about the violence in the area though. I definitely do not reccommend UC Riverside due to its high crime (location-wise) and overall dreary/gloomy atmosphere.
I've been to Standford, which is absolutely stunning. Also, many of my high school friends go to UC Irvine, which I've heard has a nice campus and just a nice area to be in, since it's right near hunington beach. You may also want to check out UC San Diego or San Diego State University.
I believe that most Cal States provide an overall good package when it comes to just about any subject (even more so than UC schools). And I speak from personal experience. However, UC schools are great to go to if you're more of an analytical type of person (UC schools are really for people who are majoring in the sciences or mathematics, though they offer a lot of other majors as well).

Q: What are the best colleges in California that offers the best forensic science programs?
I am entering college this fall and I've applied at a community college. I want to know which college in California offers the best forensic science programs that I can transfer to after two years.
Also, I want to know where I could possibly get jobs if ever I do graduate with a major in forensic science.

Q: Can i get a scholarship to california colleges?
i'm an up and coming senior and i have a 3.3 and a 1370 on my SAT (i'm retaking it in October). i'm going to try really hard to raise my GPA but is there any chance of me getting a scholarship of any kind from a california college? i'm from out of state.
A: Maybe you can try below website to get the information you need. It's about student loans including scholarship for your second opinion.
Q: Can anyone tell me what the most reputable (and affordable) community colleges in california are?
I heard from others that california community tuition is free to residents. If anyone has any more info on this it would be super helpful. I'm from Montana and college age and have been looking into a calfornia move for some time, also very poor, as most from MT are, and I've I could get a 2yr. on a budget that would help out alot. Just exploring all options.
Are there any colleges that anyone thinks are particularly challanging (good teachers, oppurtunities etc.)?
Thanks !
A: Community colleges are not free to residents. They all cost money, but much less than a typical 4 year college. Residents who qualify for financial assistance can get their tuitions paid for by grants/stipends/aid/scholarships etc.
Most community colleges are similar with lower level division courses and many vocational type of classes. Many people go to community colleges for general education courses, nursing, getting their grades up, automotive technology, certification courses etc.
The only college i would not recommend for you to go to is Compton College as they are the only California Community College to lose their accreditation. Until they get that accreditation back, their courses are not worth anything.
Q: What are good community colleges in California?
I think I'm moving to California by January and I'm currently enrolled at a community college in NYC. I want to attend a community college just to get my two year degree and then transfer to a university. So...any recommendations? My major is Multimedia Programming at the moment, but I might change my major into English or Journalism.
A: California Community Colleges System Office http://www.cccco.edu/
CA list: http://www.cccco.edu/CommunityColleges/CommunityCollegeListings/CollegeListingsRegional/tabid/829/Default.aspx
There are 110 community/city colleges in CA. If you live someplace like L.A., you'd choose which college to attend either by subject (classes differ), or by location if you're not sure what subject you want to major in. There are 9 in LA, and also in Pasadena, Glendale, Santa Monica and Long Beach -- all close to LA.
Los Angeles Community College District http://www.laccd.edu/
You will have to pay non-resident fees, approx $135 per unit, CA residents pay $26 per unit. Residents usually have priority.
Good luck!
Q: Does anyone know of colleges in California that offer hip hop dancing?
I've begun training in jazz and hip-hop dancing and want to pursue a career in dance. Right now, I am living in Michigan, but I want to move to California and go to college there. I need a school that will offer hip hop dancing, that can help me reach my career goal. Can anyone help me?
A: UCSB has a hip hop class that you pay for (Leisure Review) and do not get class credit for. http://www.recreation.ucsb.edu/leisure/dance.php
UCSB also has a dance major: http://www.theaterdance.ucsb.edu/
I don't know if other UC's or even Cal States have something similar.
Hope that helps!
