Q: College textbooks?!?
Anyone know where to buy cheap college textbooks?? I just started college, and books cost so much! I guess I took it all for granted in high school :/ Any place to find cheap textbooks in certain stores or online are very appreciated!! Thank you!!

A: Some good websites to check the price of you textbooks are http://www.shopwiki.com http://www.froogle.com http://www.textbooknook.com http://www.thefind.com Most of those sites search multiple websites to find the best price. Just put in the title, author and edition. I actually recently wrote an article on some tips for finding cheap textbooks: http://www.squidoo.com/textbooktruth Hope this helps

Q: Where can I find inexpensive college textbooks?
I been buying my textbooks at the college bookstore, which is in itself very expensive. I especially would like to know how to find used textbooks or, at least, moderately priced new textbooks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

A: Find out the ISBN numbers of your books first. This makes searches a lot easier and comes up with more accurate results. Then go to www.addall.com and type in your number. The site will search all of the other booksellers online (or close to it) and come up with a list of the places that sell your book, including an estimation of the shipping price. Then you can pick a link, make sure it's the right thing, and order your books. (Usually half.com and amazon have the cheapest.)

Q: What is the best way to purchase college textbooks?
I am tired of spending 300-600 dollars a semester buying textbooks. Is there a reliable website I can go to that can help me with avalibility and reasonable price for college textbooks? I know used boooks are cheaper... c'mon people!

A: If you have a good network of friends, then the cheapest way would be to loan/borrow textbooks amongst each other. Hopefully someone you know took the course previously and still has the book for you to borrow. Or, several people buy the book in group and you work out some sharing arrangement for that term. Take a look at your school's library, or easily reached libraries (like inter-library loans). Often a copy or two of the textbook may be available to borrow. But be quick about it, as it'll usually be snapped up quickly by someone else in your class... Even the campus bookstore's used books may not be cheap, but they are an alternative. Others have already mentioned going through amazon.com (particularly the Marketplace area where people sell their used books) as a good choice. Just be sure that you are getting the edition that you want. Or check with your professor to see if you'll be missing anything if you use one edition back, as that may be cheaper still. I haven't tried it, but http://www.campusbookswap.com/index.asp looks useful as well. You may be lucky and there's a free edition available at: http://www.textbookrevolution.org/ or http://www.freeloadpress.com/ You may also want to read: "Textbooks For the 21st Century: A Guide To Free And Low Cost Textbooks" by The State PIRGs. Q: What is a reliable website to sell college textbooks to?
I have 5 college textbooks that I paid quite a bit of money for. My campus is hardly offering anything for them. What is a reliable, trustworthy site that I can sell them to for a better price? I do not want to get scammed by a fake site.

A: I always use http://www.bigwords.com to sell back my textbooks. The site is easy to navigate and easy to post your books on. Bigwords has been around since the late 90s and they're still going strong. I gave up selling and buying my books on campus after freshman year... I only use http://www.bigwords.com now.

Q: What should we do with old college textbooks?
Both my husband and I are professionals. He is an engineer and I am a teacher. We both have many of our textbooks from college. Is the information in them worth anything? Should we try to sell them or give them away, or just ditch them?

A: College textbooks change so frequently that I am sure it is a publisher's conspiracy. However, many students like to have access to the older textbooks for references. Much of the information doesn't change significantly, especially over the period of only a few years. You might consider selling them on e-bay or advertising them on a university bulletin board or somewhere in a university town. I gave away a lot of my teaching and education textbooks to schools. Some churches have programs where they donate books to third world countries. Consider a yard sale if they are popular in your area. The Salvation Army stores and other thrift stores are always glad of donations. Good luck with it.

Q: Is there a way to sell old edition college textbooks on the internet?
I'm trying to sell some books that are used old edtion college textbooks. My college will not buy them back because they are old edtion. Does anybody know of a website that will buy back some of my old edition textbooks?

A: i don't know a website that will buy them. but you can sell them as used books on ebay. You will almost NEVER get back anywhere near the money you paid for them.

Q: How can I easily sell my college textbooks?
I have a couple of used college textbooks and I would really like to get rid of them. How can I sell them quickly? Should I try ebay? What other alternatives do I have?

A: You can sell them at bookstores! They will buy them back from you, and then resell them to other students! I do it all the time! Also, you can try Craig's List and Ebay, but I find them to be a hassle sometimes. If you got them from a college, try selling them back to the college! They usually will buy them back from students if they plan on using those books for the next semester! Anyway, hope this helps you out!

Q: Where is the best place to sell used college textbooks?
So I have 5 used college textbooks that I would love to sell. There are a ton of places out there, but where do you think I'd have the most luck at selling them?

A: Go to bigwords.com and click on sell used books. You put in the ISBN (a 10 digit number on the back of your textbooks) and they find the place that will give you the most money for your used books. If you have any questions, let me know.

Q: Where can I sell my college textbooks without having to give a bank account number?
Where can I sell my college textbooks without having to give a bank account number?

A: I have used http://www.textxpress.net multiple times, and it has worked very well for me. They do not require a bank account #. It is a free textbook marketplace where you can sell textbooks via auction, fixed price, classified, and wanted ad listings.

Q: Where can I sell my college textbooks online for no service fees?
I am looking for someplace to sell my college textbooks online for no service fees. I'm not interested in eBay, since I've had a some bad experiences with them involving account theft and a purchase that turned out to be a pirated scam.

A: All of the sites listed you can sell your books back, and they send you a check for your books. You put in the books you want to sell, print out the list, send the books to the company with them paying the shipping and they mail you a check. I've dealt with these companies MANY times! Good luck! www.valorebooks.com www.ecampus.com www.webuytextbooks.com www.bookbyte.com

Q: Did you use your college textbooks after you finished your class?
I'm wondering how many ppl actually used their textbooks after they've finished using them for their classes. I'm going into college this coming fall, and i'm considering renting some of my textbooks, as it comes cheaper. Advice, anyone?

A: For the general classes that everyone took, I got rid of them as soon as I was done. As for my major, I still have most of those books. They helped in preparing for tests in other classes.

Q: What is the best place to buy used college textbooks?
Other than amazon.com, where do most college students get their textbooks cheap? Is there lots of borrowing from upperclassmen?

A: A number of the campus bookstores sell the textbooks used. I'd try there first. Otherwise, look on different bulletin boards around the campus.

Q: What to do with old college textbooks?
Can anyone give me some good ideas? I have dozens of college textbooks from the past 6 years. I've tried selling some online but some of them were outdated even when I used them and I hate to throw them away. I'm an English major so my bookshelves, closet, entertainment center, etc, are already filled with books. I want to get rid of those that I don't need and wasn't able to sell online. Throwing them away is against my morals and I don't know where I should donate them to. Anyone have any good ideas?

A: Consider locating a textbook recycling center. Or you may wish to obtain a copy of American Donated Books Abroad: Guide to Distributing Organizations. This will help you decide if the books you have are needed overseas for developing libraries. Address and links follow below.

Q: The best website to buy cheap, used college textbooks that are in usable condition?

THANKS!!!

A: try campusi.com. they give a list of stores that are selling the books. it goes from low to high . you can also try getting older editions from you library. They might be able to get the books from other libraries in you state. the books usually don't change if so just get the changes from a classmate. i save a lot of money this way.

Q: Does anybody know where I could download college textbooks for free?
I'm looking for PDF and/or MS Word files of college-level textbooks since my budget's pretty low so I can't buy the real books (especially if they're brand new)... I'm especially hoping to find some biochemistry, physics, psychology, sociology, and/or anthropology books.

A: Sorry. The publishers won't let anyone do that. Go to half.com and buy used books. Or see if you can pick them up from someone who already took the course.
