Q: best college?
i was planning on being an orthodontist, and how much money do you make a year? what is the best college in the U.S to go to to major in orthedontistry?

A: From what I understand, to be an orthodontist you can major in anything as long as you take your pre-dentistry courses. After that, you go to dental school, and after dental school the best of the best can learn orthodontistry. So for undergraduate, any high ranked large research school with a decent pre-health program would be good.

Q: >>>>>BEST COLLEGE<<<<What Is The Best College. =) I'm Just asking im not going now im 12 lol I'm Just asking im not going now im 12 lol I'm Just asking im not going now im 12 lol

A: Check out this link from PayScale.com: http://www.payscale.com/best-colleges/degrees.asp You can research colleges/universities based on salary potential. They have colleges (and undergraduate majors) ranked by median starting salary and median mid-career salary. Hope that helps!

Q: What college has the best undergrad program for getting into vet school?
What college should I attend to have the best chance of getting into vet school? Or is the college where you do your undergrad not important to vet schools?

A: Like all school admissions, doing very well at a good school with a strong academic reputation is more important than going to one specific school over another. Go to a school that's a good fit for *you*--where you'll be happy, successful, financially salvageable (remember, vet school costs $$$ too), and have as many opportunities as possible (and if you're sure about vet school, perhaps consider potential volunteer opportunities at each college). Also, vet school admissions isn't very standardized (e.g. unlike med school, where all schools require essentially the same classes)...it can be a good idea to contact the schools you are most interested in and to find out their required classes and volunteer hour ranges (some vet schools require a LOT of hours, and with different ranges...large animal vs small, etc). Since there can be a very wide range, the sooner you have a rough idea of what classes you'll need to take the better. Oh, and remember to be as well researched and professional when you talk to these schools--even just for basic info--because every impression counts when it comes to admissions. :)

Q: What undergraduate college would best prepare me for medical school?
I want to know the best colleges possible or what I should be looking for in a college to be prepared for medical school. I have heard that it doesn't matter what I major in is this true? Or should I major in a class that will aid me in my medical carreer? Or would it be wiser to take easy classes to boost GPA?

A: wow, I don't think I have ever seen worse responses than the ones I see here. That's why I do this... because when I was applying there was a lot of misinformation. So I like to set records straight. Major in what you want. It would be easier to major in a science because your med school requirements (one year of inorganic chem, one year of organic chem, one year of physics, and one year of biology) are usually wrapped up with the degree (ie no extra classes to take for med school). The problem is that unless you love science and love being in labs, then you will hate your major. Going to med school and being a doctor doesn't mean that all you are is a science bookworm. Med schools are looking for well rounded applicants. So if you love history, then major in it. If you love physiology, then major in it. And if for some reason you love biochemistry and you just can't get enough about molecules, then major in it. All you need is a four year degree (you don't need an ivy league... go to a state school), do well in you classes (especially your required classes), do well on your MCAT, try to have some idea about why you want to be a doc. I decided on human physiology as a major, because I thought it was interesting. I had to take some extra courses, but it served me well. But there were a number of people in my med school class who were theater, history, business, etc majors. The choices are endless. Just do well in your core. PS And don't go to foreign med schools, if you can avoid it.

Q: What is college like and how can I make lasting friendships and make the best of college?
I have been homeschooled for most of highschool, and would like to make friends in college and make the best of college itself. What is college like and how can i make friends and do well in college?

A: As lame as this will seem to some people, I was in the marching band. It started a week before classes, so I had time to meet people before things got real crazy. DO NOT spend a lot of time partying, as you won't meet the people that you really want to meet. Mind you, the parties were fun... EDIT: Get into some social setting. Music, clubs, sports, dorms, etc.

Q: What is the best college to get my masters and doctors degree ?
I've have finally and gladly finished college last year and I'm wondering where I can go for my degrees; a college with the best quality for religion, mostly in comparative religion.

A: Hello... I great college in my region to get your masters and doctors degrees is Columbia University... Good Luck in everything

Q: What is the best college for an aspiring journalist?
I've always wanted to be a journalist, it's something I'm serious about. I'm entering High School in August, and since planning for college is really important in High School, I'd like to know what the best college would be for someone like me. Thanks in advance :D

A: You remind me of, well, me. I was looking at universities too when I was as young as you. :-) Don't just look to Ivy League schools. There are plenty of excellent, well recognized universities out there that are not part of Ivy League. Check here for a list of the ten most popular journalism schools in the USA: http://www.chillibreeze.com/articles/schools-of-journalism.asp I'm aware that Carleton University in Canada is a good place to study journalism as well -- it's the first one that comes to mind as a Canadian myself. Be very careful when picking universities. Reputation and quality of instruction aren't as correlated as you think. Make sure you decide on a place where YOU feel comfortable. Good luck in highschool and beyond!

Q: What is the best college to go to if i want to become an airline pilot?
I want to become an airline pilot right out of college. What would be the best college to go to for this. What are some of the good flight scools? I was thinking maybe embry-riddel.

A: stick with licensing only and major in something else in a different college, the way the economy is going and airlines are going you should have a backup plan to fall back on incase the airlines cant take you

Q: What is the best way to include limited college experience on a resume?
If someone needs to make a resume but failed out of college and has since been fairly successful in sales, what is the best way to include college experience in the resume? I've heard some college is better than none, which makes sense, but including the college information may result in some difficult questions. How can the sales experience be emphasized? Can some sort of addendum be included with a resume in such cases to offer an explanation of the past? Thanks!

A: I am a professional resume developer and this is how I deal with someone with some college experience, but no degree. Example: EDUCATION: Business courses, Stonehill College, Easton, MA You simply include the general course of study and the college that you attended. Do not include the attendance time frame. Don't include an addendum, as it will only serve to focus on the education issue. Never answer a question that has not been asked. If the question as to schooling arises during the interview process, you might say something like, "I found it necessary to join the workforce." That is true, but ambiguous enough that it can indicate a lack of funds, family issues, or whatever. Don't indicate to a potential employer that the door to further education is closed, either. You never know when you may find your calling and decide to go back to school. I was a 10th grade drop out but I went back to school in my 40's and graduated summa cum laude, so you just never know. You can emphasize your success in sales by detailing your accomplishments in that area. If you cannot afford to pay a resume developer, there are many good resume books at the public library. Good luck. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Q: What is the best college to pursue writing?
I am keeping my eyes open and trying to ask people what college is the best for writing, in any form? I want to become a writer, but I also want to live in NYC. So, what is the best college for writing in NYC and in the country?

A: I hate to say this but that's a liberal arts focus, so looking at any Ivy league school would be your best bet. Thus, Columbia is your only choice. I would also look to many of other close-Ivy League schools in the Northeast like Colgate, Oberlin, Lehigh. Women's schools like Wellesley and Swarthmore would be good choices also. You need to stick to Liberal Arts focused schools rather than State schools which are more technical based. Because of default, they need to offer English & Literature, but nothing of substance happens there in terms of understanding literature in a better context. Writing and English is definately a breadth coursework (rather than depth) and having a renouned department in English or Literature will make the difference. Some consider writing as frosting to the cake, but remember, all cake mix tastes the same, and how the cake looks makes the sale.

Q: What college or university is best for a dance major?
I want to major in dance but im not sure what college or university is best for me 2 attend. I also want to stay on campus.

A: Julliard is the most famed school for dance majors, and they do offer housing. Yale, Stanford, BU, and NYU all have strong dance programs. FSU also has an incredibly renowned dance school, and they're far easier to get into and much, much more affordable than the other schools. http://www.juilliard.edu/ http://dance.fsu.edu/ : )

Q: What is the best way for young college graduate to break into coaching at the college level?
My son graduated from a small Division III college in 2005. Post graduate, he has been an assistant coach for both football and track. He would like to coach at either the high school or college level on a full time basis. What is the best way to "get a foot in the door"? My son is thinking of working as a graduate assistant while getting a master's in Education, but his undergraduate degree was not in Education, so he will need to go through the student teaching and certification process. Is there a faster, less expensive way to his goal of coaching?

A: Unless you know someone it's difficult. Your best bet is to start at the high school level and pay your dues. Those college positions are hard to come by without a resume.

Q: What is the best college that i can major in cosmology/astronomy?
Okay, so i'm really interested in cosmology and astronomy. What is the best college/ university* that majors in these two subjects?

A: No accredited university will teach that...

Q: What is the best college for psychology?
I have been looking on internet sights but they all say their college is the best in any department... Which one is really better?

A: It really depends on what type of psychology you want to go for. For example, you may want to go for developmental psychology- well the best program in the nation may be at a school which doesnt even offer a degree in clinical psych. What I'm saying is, it depends on the program you want to go for- you cannot make global statements about a college and its psychology program (just like you couldnt say that a college which has an excellent program in English must have an excellent program in Spanish- even though they are both languages).

Q: Who Will be the best quarterback in college football next year?
I want to know who will be the best man under center will be in college football. Who's the guy with the arm, the smarts and the feet to stand out as the best college QB in the nation?

A: The odds on favorite is probably Booty at USC, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Chad Henne (Michigan) will be the one who shows the real NFL character late in the season. He has two good receivers in Manningham and Arrington, as well as an elite back in Mike Hart who should take a lot of pressure off. All Henne will have to do is stay calm like he did last year and his season will look pretty impressive.
